Slippery lobster.

Me and my hubby were very discontent when we saw the lobster we ordered started vigorously vibrating. Not good. Otherwise great stay! Would come again and have recommended to friends.

Me and wife were shocked when we went to our room and the toilet wasn't flushed there was a big human fecie in the toilet. In the middle of the night there people running shouting inappropriate things causing lots of noise. Otherwise a great stay and food was brilliant. Would maybe come back

This was a return visit to the Mercure at Norwich. As a silver card holder in the Accor loyalty scheme I was pleased to be given a token for complimentary drinks for the two of us. We were delighted to find that the breakfast was back to its former high quality - a few months ago, we had been disappointed to find several of our favourite breakfast items missing throughout every day of our stay (we were told they'd 'run out'). This time, not only were all the usual breakfast items available, but the quality of the pastries - particularly the pains aux raisins - had improved. The pains aux raisins were so much better for having been properly baked; previously they'd tended to have been literally half-baked, so they were soggy and unappetising instead of firm and crisp. I hope this trend of properly baking the pastries continues! All staff were pleasant and helpful, and the room was clean and had all the facilities we wanted. There was ample free parking. The downside of the stay was the bedroom doors. They're impossible to shut quietly, so we were woken a few times late at night by people returning to their rooms and having no option but to slam their bedroom doors shut. Worse still, between about 05.30 and 08.00 the next morning (when we got up), we were woken about 7-8 times by people slamming their doors. The hotel often welcomes off-shore workers for prolonged stays, and, whilst these men aren't in themselves noisy, I assume most of the early morning coming-and-going was them, leaving very early for work. I wish Mercure would get the closing mechanisms on the bedroom doors changed, to avoid such frequent disturbance - or, at least, try accommodating the workers who must get up and leave early in a separate part of the hotel away from the other guests, who would welcome a bit of a lie-in.

Two night stay for the new year gala evening. Staff were lovely, and a special mention to Emma in the bar and restaurant who looked after us, your so kind and lovely and made us feel welcome. You are a credit to the mecure, a true star. Food and entertainment was really good and nothing to much trouble. Reception staff are also lovely and friendly. Can't wait for the next time we visit your hotel.

Great stay, all staff friendly and helpful, resection was welcoming (abby and kat) Hotel was clean and tidy. A perfect location for the airport (far enough away to not hear all the flights)
