Too many misses for a hotel expected to be at the top-end

My experience was quite unfortunate. However, the staff were great and friendly, which helped to overcome some of the 'misses'. The hotel strength's: - a very nice pool where it is easy to swim, coupled with a lovely beach where it is also possible to swim. - staff are friendly and great and do their best to help. - for runners (and depending on the weather): there is a nice 5km coastal path which is ideal for running. It start on the highway, opposite of the conference centre. The 'misses': - I had ordered transportation from the airport to the hotel. I received confirmation but nobody came. I could not reach the hotel due to poor network on arrival. Since my flight arrived late in the evening, there was no taxi available and I had to 'bargain' to get transportation to the hotel, what I just hated, particularly after a long flight from Europe. - cuckroaches in the bathroom, but the staff offered to move me and fumigate the room. - I went to the pool on a very hot day and was wearing new white swimming trunks. I was given those greenish hotel towels for the lounger, and after a couple of hours, realised hat the back of my trunks were green. The result is that I can no longer use them since the greenish colour has remained. Overall: - The pool is good but on Sunday, the music from the bar was very loud, which was not optimal for those who wanted to relax or read a book. - The hotel is isolated. There is nothing around. The nearby mall has only a handful of shops open. - Hotel is still quite well maintained but would however need a serious renovation.

We spent a fantastic stay at Sofitel Sipopo. No doubt this is the best hotel at Malabo. The hotel is located 20 minutes from the center, in front of the beach and surrounded by see with a lot of green and trees. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are fantastic and the outdoor swimming pool with view on the beach is splendid. As well I was very surprised by the high level of the food- all restaurants and bars are great and the team give amazing big service. Estrella, the F&B manager, is doing incredible job, all our meals (breakfast and lunch/finner) were fantastic and she made our stay unforgettable and for sure I will gone back again to Sofitel because of Estrella! As well thanks to Juan Felix (for the French fries), Elpidio and Nicanor from the reception for the smooth checkin/out experience- I have visited many Sofitel around the world and this one is spectacular.

Horible spot, no pool, rude people. Not kind. Staff, would not recomet 1/5 stars, id give it zero if i could. Very unsatisfied.

I'm particularly overawed by the high quality of the hotel's cuisine. The food is rich, diverse, extremely savoury and, above all, very healthy. The restaurant's Executive Chef, Mr. P. Abni Fiarid, has an all-round team of super cooks and ever-smiling waitresses who are always happy to serve.

Very good service, friendly and helpful staff. Food is good but a little expensive. The deckchairs on the beach need an upgrade. Quiet and peaceful location.
