My stay at the Pullman Shanghai Jing’an was solid and aligned well with the brand’s executive-focused positioning — nothing overly special, but nothing problematic either. As an Accor Plus Platinum member, my status was recognized, and I was upgraded to an Executive Room. While I appreciated the gesture, I was honestly disappointed that no suite was offered — especially since I checked the app and full suite availability was showing for my weekday stay. It felt like a missed opportunity for better recognition. The Club Lounge was nice — not extravagant, but efficient and comfortable. The staff were attentive and professional, though none stood out enough for me to remember names. It got the job done, no fuss, no frills. The room itself was actually a pleasant surprise — while small in size, it was beautifully appointed with luxurious design elements and thoughtful touches. The bedding and pillow menu were fantastic, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. Definitely one of the highlights of the stay. Breakfast was good, though the egg station staff weren’t particularly engaged or attentive during my visits. Again, not a complaint — just nothing memorable. The gym was in good shape, and although the sauna was unfortunately closed during my stay, the facilities otherwise felt well-maintained. The spa, however, was significantly overpriced — even the hotel staff discreetly acknowledged better value could be found just steps away. It might be time for Pullman to reconsider that vendor relationship. I did like the privacy and security of the hotel — it caters mainly to Chinese professionals and international business travelers, which I found created a very calm and professional environment. Security checks for drop-offs and visitors were thorough, which at first felt excessive, but made sense in the bigger picture of guest safety. The elevator system, however, was painfully slow — tolerable on a quiet weekday, but I can only imagine the delays during high occupancy weekends or events. That’s definitely an area in need of an update. All in all, Pullman Jing’an does what it’s meant to do — offer a polished, business-ready experience in a central location. No major complaints from me, but also nothing that stood out as a “wow” moment. If you’re looking for a functional, professional stay with just the right amount of comfort and privacy, this property fits the bill.

My solo stay in Shanghai’s best hotel

The Pullman Shanghai Hotel was an excellent choice in my hotel choice. The location is convenient with the metro right next door and the Shanghai train station Across the street. The staff here was beyond expectation. They helped me every way with all my issues including internet issues, transportation and guiding me in my travel itineraries in the city. The front desk was very attentive polite and were always smiling!

Hotel has a good location. Located near a metro station, which is connected to lines 1, 3 and 4, and a railway station for the bullet train. Room is sufficiently large and the breakfast offers more than enough choice. Executive lounge is also nice, but unfortunately there was little selection of drinks. There wasn't even Tsingtao beer, but there was downstairs in the bar.

We had a great stay at Pullman Shanghai Jing’an. The hotel is well located, with easy access to the metro system and just a short walk to Shanghai Railway Station, making it super convenient for getting around the city and beyond. Breakfast was very good, with a wide selection and attentive service. The staff throughout the hotel were excellent, and we especially appreciated that Accor ALL loyalty was fully recognised, a refreshing experience compared to other properties in China. Our room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped, offering everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although we didn’t use the gym or pool, it was nice to know those facilities were available. The executive lounge, while not extensive, was very good, offering a quiet space to relax with decent refreshments. Overall, this is a solid choice in Shanghai, combining comfort, service, and convenience with proper recognition of loyalty status. We’d happily stay again.
