Depressing stay in Lyon

Depressing colour scheme (dark brown) in corridors and a room. Insufficient lighting in bathroom, bedroom and sitting area making the whole room dark and unpleasant. The room was not very clean and lacked protector on the mattress. Strangely, the hotel collects a deposit on the credit card exceeding over 50% the room rate. The deposit was collected in full (instead of pre-authorisation) and returned couple days after check-out. On the plus note, excellent location in Confluence neighbourhood and nice staff and reception area.

Best Aspect: The Staff . Everything Else: Fairish to OKish!

Novotel Lyon Centre Confluence Bord de Saone is probably best described as an OK place for overnight business stops. The immediate environs of the entrance are very poorly maintained, quite awful. The entrance lobby is like a lift area to a multi-storey car park. The reception is on the 2nd Floor , the reception staff were excellent as indeed were all the staff who were to a person friendly & welcoming, I was impressed with their attitude and helpfulness. The 6th Floor room we had was quite dull , my wife wife called it the 'brown room'. The room was small , I had to walk side ways to get into one side of the bed. There was one small wardrobe with a single shelf an five hangers. No drawers. We asked for a larger room but none was available. There were tea & coffee makings but no milk sachets or the like. We quickly bought milk for the small fridge. Filtered water was provided daily. My wife did not believe the mirrors were very well placed for her to apply make-up. One night we heard the extreme revving of a car engine , it would seem the area is used by 'boy racers' which explained the numerous huge concrete blocks near the hotel entrance , presumably there to obstruct their access to the quayside and protect pedestrians. There were two options for breakfast , these were explained on a card in the room, explained in a way that bore no resemblance to the advice given on breakfast 'check-in' . Even after seven days there I would not guarantee my full understanding. Basically , though the terms are not used , there is 'continental' or 'full breakfast' option. We stuck to continental but were billed for a mix of both options. I challenged this and it was quickly corrected without any issue. For me , not one of the breakfast cereals was one I would choose. There was a wide choice of other things. As with many hotels the coffee and cold drinks left much to be desired. The hotel was very clean although on one day our room was not made-up. By far the best thing about this hotel was the wonderful staff, but even their excellent skills would be sufficient justification to return or recommend this hotel.

Very well located, just steps away from the station within reach of major city attractions. The hotel has a direct access to the Mall and the service is ok.

Excellent location, with direct mall access and few steps away from the railway station, the hotel offer nice rooms and decent F&B offerings. My stay was uplifted with the friendly service provided by Ms. Juliette at the Front Desk who assisted me in making all the necessary arrangements to enjoy my short trip in Lyon!

Clean, modern hotel in the southern part of Lyon attached to a large shopping and entertainment complex. We were in town for my husband’s conference, and I was left to sightsee solo. It was easy to navigate to Old Lyon and the peninsula area in about 20-25 minutes by tram, metro and water taxi (conveniently located right behind the hotel). The breakfast buffet was the best we had on our trip to France and the staff was extremely helpful.
