One of our least favourite hotels on our trip

Our family of four stayed here for three nights in January as part of a three week trip to China. It was one of our least favourite hotels. We liked the laundry room, close proximity to Wanda Mall with loads of food options and the helpful staff at reception (thanks especially to Dina who helped me when I was totally over the hot room and organised a fan for me). We had a view of a drab apartment building and our floor was a smoking floor with people often smoking by the lifts. The heating only had one temperature in our room (24 degrees celsius) whereas our kids could easily change the temperature in their adjacent room. Personally we found breakfast average though staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful. We loved Harbin and everything we saw but we were disappointed in Sofitel Harbin finding it hot, dated and claustrophobic.

This is my first time been Harbin, Just checked out from Sofitel Harbin and I’m already missing it! This place truly made my trip special. First off, the location is ideal. About 6 km to Central Street and Saint Sophia Cathedral. TBH, My expectations for this hotel were rather low, but it gave me suprise indeed, Cuz the hotel has a history of nearly 20 years, I thought the hotel facilities would be rather outdated. In fact, all the facilities are in good condition and have been renovated. There are also some smart devices. In addition, January is the peak season, all the hotels have raised their prices. However, Sofitel still remain reasonable price, cuz not in best location, some price of best location hotel with very low configuration have the same price. This is a good choice for me, also Sotitel is really honest. Although Sofitel not in best location, but also close to wanda plaza, we can easily get almost daily use we want here. My room was lovely: spacious, clean, with such a comfortable bed and excellent sound insulation. We can see the Dragon Tower from the window, giving it a feeling similar to that of the Tokyo Tower. Food was a highlight! The breakfast had everything — from local treats like Hongchang sausage, frozen pear and jianbingguozi. But what really stood out was the staff. Everyone was genuinely warm and helpful. Especially during check-in Penny and Selina. And thanks room keeping with fast response. All in all, Sofitel Harbin made me feel pampered and right at home. If I ever find myself in Harbin again, I won’t think twice — I’ll be back here. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a stay that’s luxurious but also feels personal and warm.

We had a fabulous stay at Sofitel Harbin, thanks to the great hospitality by Andy and his team! We got upgraded to the suite and it was comfort at its best. Loved the bed especially. Food was also great. Location was excellent, conveniently located next to Wanda plaza and nearby eateries. Short drive away to tourist hotspots. Two nights here was too short and we’d loved to stay for longer. Thank you again for a memorable stay at Sofitel Harbin 🥰 It’s highly recommended to all visitors!

The hotel feels very luxurious and I had a wonderful suite in one of the top floors. The location is very convenient and there is a large shopping center in the next building. The duty manager Bella was particularly outstanding. She contacted me ahead of the stay for any special requests, and then she personally welcomed me as I was arriving late to make sure that I still get some food and drink. The Club Sofitel was also excellent. I very gladly come again to this wonderful place.

We checked in on the last day of 2024—and what a wonderful way to end the year. Sofitel Harbin impressed us with its refined elegance, spacious rooms, and luxurious bathtubs. The Lanvin amenities were a particularly delightful touch, adding a sense of indulgence to our stay. While the hotel’s location may not be the most central in the city, the experience more than made up for it. On New Year’s Day, we were treated to a gentle snowfall, and the hotel went the extra mile by offering snow tubes and other equipment for guests to enjoy—completely free of charge. Just outside the hotel is a small garden area where we had great fun playing in the snow. It was a magical and memorable way to welcome the new year. A heartfelt thank you to our customer service manager, 小于, whose attentiveness and thoughtful care truly elevated our stay. We look forward to returning.
