5 star hotel in Shanghai city center, with a balcony (rare).

recently stayed again, probably about the 5th time in total since 2024. It is a good hotel, reasonably priced if choose the right time...their prices fluctuate a lot at random. The draw of the place is cost, location, 5 star and balcony. Hardly any hotels at all in Shanghai have a balcony. Rooms are big, with a kitchenette and even a washing machine. I would personally say that this is a 5 star experience but the breakfast seems to have dipped in quality a little bit as if the hotel management is focused on saving costage. But it is still good and the design of the building is cool. You can look all the way down from whatever floor you ate staying on and see the restaurant in action. Location wise, need to know a bit about it or be savvy. It is walkable from nearest metro stop but takes 15 minutes doing that. It is located in a financial area of Changning. Slightly out of the way. For anyone interested, there are two 'Gentleman' clubs next to it, a HSBC is nearby and many eating places around. I will continue to use this hotel.

I stayed Grand Mercure hotel in August with my family for holiday. We had great experience at all. The staffs are really friendly and helped us for tourist needs. Room is clean and comfortable, meal is good. I am sure will back again.

Not the best choice in the area. Good value for money but not well maintained. Room I had have a weird design. Air condition noisy. Bathroom amenities scary. Curtain too short to cover all window....

I booked 2 rooms for my sister and I for 7 days from 22nd August 25 at Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao. I must say that from the moment we booked our rooms and checked in till today, we have been treated with great hospitality by all the hotel staff. As my sister needed wheelchair service, Carol from the reservation department carefully sent two confirmation emails to ensure that my sister could get a wheelchair during her stay. Every morning when my sister goes for breakfast or the executive lounge for an evening happy hour rest, she sees that all the staff are willing to help her. It can be seen that this help comes completely from the heart. When I needed to book an executive lounge meeting room to meet with a client, Manager Liu and Viridis Gui provided enthusiastic help, and they were very welcoming during the happy hours in the executive lounge every evening. As a business traveler who as an Accor Platinum member and travels around the world, I can feel that the staff of this hotel are very professionally trained. I will definitely stay in this hotel again on my next trip to Shanghai.
