Always very nice people and a very good service at Sofitel club. You feel like home at this hotel. I have stayed at this hotel many times, and I have not have one bad experience. In general will I say that almost on all my stays at Sofitel around the world is the concept just great. Sofitel Sheshan Oriental definitely add to that experience

Nice hotel, great pool bad service

We stayed for one night. The room was big, clean with al kind of details. Breakfast buffet was acceptable but not wow as I know from another Sofitel standard. The pool and the beach was amazing but the restaurante and pool bar service was extremely poor. At the pool we ordered f&b and it took more than an hour to get a beer and a pizza, not to mentioned that beer was warn. No waiters on site and we were like begging for service, also order didn't arrived all together: 3 families ordered together but one family waited 20 minutes more than the first family that received the food. Also drinks came with the food, so we waited 1 hour for a beer. Later on at the restaurant, either you go for the buffet or bad decision: we wanted to order a la carte, restaurant staff were sending us to the bar since they didn't wan to serve from the menu, finally we made it but several of what was order was not available, waiter didn't know about it so we placed the order and 1o mins later they came with the news that food was not available. Next day at the pool we decided to order ourself directly at the bar. No toilets close to the pool need to go inside the hotel building. Finally that weekend there was an SAP event at the pool and hotel staff were trying to get us out of the pool. If outside companies events are more important than guests, they should have close the hotel for regular guest. Very disappointed, will not go back and will not recommend. I am a accord member for a long time

Excellent service, but below average room setting and in-room amenities. Poor location for business. A good setting and large property for family holiday. Happy hour at the club lounge ending 7 pm is too short.

Very nice hotel for leisure and rest. Wonderful vast territory.Very friendly staff at the Club. Very grateful to Any and her colleagues for attention to details and professionalism. Thank you so much for your hospitality!Great Room Service too!Delicious sandwich prepared by the chef. Don't know his name but would like to say big thank you to him too! The coffee in the morning was well done. Fresh and quality taste! As well as the room service boys were excellent! Just about the swimming pool and beach side

Go for the outdoor swimming pool and sand beach side. Otherwise, we were very disappointed with the breakfast. Food is very average, could even say not good for a Sofitel. And service is really incompetent at many levels. The rooms are clean (nothing to say on this) but it could really use a renovation (style and paint refresh)

The resort itself is beautiful but it needs a face lift, the outdoor facilities are nice (beach, garden). Children's outdoor playground is also nice, but in bad condition, needs renovation. The hotel is overpriced (food, drinks), coffee shop in the lobby is selling old stuff. You need to pay extra for entering children's playground indoors, and the room is totally molded. You can't take your child there! Staff members' English skills vary a lot depending on the person. We've stayed in many Sofitel hotels in Europe and unfortunately Sheshan is not the same quality as we are used to elsewhere.

Arrived the property early, head straight to the club lounge on 5th Floor, very well trained staff. Check in was quick and smooth, upgraded to suite. The room was huge as well as the balcony. I can see this hotel gets very busy during summer vacation period, might avoid staying here during that period. Other than that it's a lovely place suite quiet person. Will definitely come back again.

Nice place to relax after business trip

After few days business trip staying in Sofitel Shanghai Hyland, I came to this resort to take rest before leaving Shanghai. It is quite far away from city. If there is a shuttle bus transfer between two Sofitel hotels, that will be definitely wonderful and could attract more business trip customers staying 1-2 days here. The check in and out is quick and smooth. Staff are nice and polite. The room is nice, clean and big though the view is not very good. When comparing with the size of the Suite, if the bathtub is bigger, the whole impression will be better. The executive lounge is a good place to have a drink and to read a novel. The waiter and waitress are nice and polite though they may be new and not skillful enough. The food of breakfast, tea and happy hour are good and varieties are sufficient, especially the hot dishes provided during happy hours which do not provide in Hyland. If more choices on brands of wine are provided (such as Gordon Gin), that will be much better. Overall the executive lounge service is very satisfactorily. The dinner buffet is up to standard, food choices are enough and delicious though no oyster is provided. The white wine is good while the red wine is so so. The outdoor swimming pool is a nice place to enjoy leisurely swimming though many family with children are there. The indoor pool is not allowed getting in without swimming cap, it is unreasonable since many other hotels, even other Sofitels no such restriction, especially in resort hotels. Overall it is a nice experience staying in this Resort and especially thank Flora Chen for her cheerful hospitality.

The restaurant buffet. This rendered liked it very much, I am loving people taste the food for all the countries of the world, the food was varied and the world, especially since I eat seafood, was rich in sea food, I travel every month or two and this restaurant was fantastic. Probably the best Sofitel I've ever seen

The moment I stepped out of the cab, the only thing I said was "Holy Mother of God" upon seeing the facade of this resort hotel. Very relaxing stay. Tried the spa and it was good. You don't get into a room, you enter a villa, that has its own television, relaxing sound and its own bath tub. The aromatherapy bath didn't smell anything aromatic, though. And the massage was good but not what I was expecting. The food is delicious, as expected. The breakfast, the afternoon tea, and the happy hour, which is a little less than happy since there were only 2 of us inside the whole hall. The executive room is spacious. The beds are comfortable though you might notice some worn out headboards. The temperature is a little too warm for me but I can't change the temp. I ended up leaving my balcony door open which would have been alright if not for the polluted air coming in. Lanvin is a good choice of soap but I would still prefer L'Occitane The indoor pool is adequately heated and the sauna's temperature was regulated well. Had the in-room dining (Hainanese chicken rice, then I ordered another cheeseburger) and they were both good. Next time I'll try the steak. The manager in the ground floor concierge won't allow me to extend my check out to 4pm even if I arrived at 6pm and am an Accor cardholder. But I am so happy to have been taken care of by Angela Gao of the Executive Lounge. True to her name, she was an angel. She was very proactive in ensuring that I had the best stay and has helped me with each and every one of my concerns. She has initiative expected of a truly world-class service. If I can give you an 11 out of 10 stars I would! Overall I recommend this hotel for a great staycation away from the buzz of the busy Shanghai noise. I'll probably have my staycation here, everytime. If they allow a better late check out option.

Concierge should or do have the ability to help to make your stay a hassle free and memorable experience. Instead they were unhelpful and actually sent me and family on a completely unnecessary Taxi ride for 80 mins and 450 Yuan later out of pocket due to lack of knowledge of their City. Service at this particular Sofitel was poor. Examples - Concierge as mentioned above. Request to make up room ignored. It is a minor thing but represents the Client Service culture - as a Gold Accor member I received a Free Drink voucher. Having asked for a Coffee I felt that due to it in effect being free the person seemed put out by the request and also proceeded to give me half a cup of coffee. Really Sofitel..... it just a little bit of milk. Some perspective please. Perhaps a visit to other Sofitel hotels will demonstrate the Sofitel Brand expectations around Client Service. On a positive note the family enjoyed the Buffet Breakfast and Dinner and the extensive pool network. Great product execution poor. A shame.

Weekend getaway

Our weekend stay was a very pleasant experience. The hotel has really made the facilities child friendly. The large, clean and supervised pool areas are perfect for sunny days. A few more degrees of heat in the water would have been helped parents but it did not stop the kids from jumping in. Large playing areas indoor was great after lunch and dinners. Service was very good and especially considerate for families. A couple of drawbacks which kind of ruined a big part of our stay: (1) During the night the air conditioner turned off at least twice, probably due to power cuts. Result was a boiling hot room and little sleep for the kids. Kind of ruined the second day. (2) In the evening, we tried to enjoy some saturday evening quiet time in the club launch. Instead of quiet we watch the cleaning and breakfast preparations for the following morning. Surely there are better times to do this.

Super long queue at check in counter during weekend peak hours ... Other than that, everything quite nice and above my expectation! Will visit again but probably not at weekends whenever possible.......

I like the overall service of the hotel. It was quite lengthy check-in time because of high occupancy on the Friday and difficult to allocate rooms for 3 families of us. Eventually, a Ms Sophie Xu who is very kind enough to upgrade our 3 families with 3 children to family rooms on the same floor, we were all very pleased and appreciated for her very kind help. Ms Xu handled our reservation very calmly and professionally with very pleasant smile on her face all the time. Just one mino downside about the room, the ceiling shower was broken in our room.

The Service is excellent, especially "Nancy", the manager from the Executive club. Very friendly with great customer's service. Excellent room that is very spacious and grand. The outdoor pool is wonderful. This is on top of a nice indoor pool and Gym.

It's a nice journey to SheShan Sofitel, Executive Floor is nice and service are fantastic. Also, a lady who do check in for me and Johnson from guest service manager who do check out for me are also helpful and good welcome and farewell.
