I've stayed here for two nights...basic room, not so clean...this is not a Mercure Hotel level for sure...i've been in many Mercure Hotel all around the world and this is the worst...the only good thing is breakfast...they don't have umbrella to borrow you if it rains (it rained two nights on two)...for the price i paid, compared to brazilian cost of living, they should have given me the umbrella...too expensive for the hotel it actually is

This hotel is a great selection. If you are looking for scenic ocean views and a pool to die for….this is your place! The pictures don’t do the views justice. If you can, get a sea view room it will add to your experience immensely. The hotel is also well located 10 minutes walk from numerous restaurants and bars. The historic center is a $5 uber ride away. I highly recommend!!

More than for its quiet location, this Mercure branch in so-called 'bohemian' district Rio Vermelho is a wise choice for those visiting Salvador on business, for fun or congresses or only to unplug themselves. Taxi from the airport costs some 120 reais and one should count on about an hour to get to the hotel, depending on traffic. The lobby is broad and welcoming, ready for groups, with well-trained receptionists and a gift shop to the right. By the way, purchasing there helps artisans directly and it's often cheaper than in Modelo Market or Pelourinho, for example. The hotel is ageing and that's undeniable, renovation is needed urgently; nevertheless, the many flaws are compensated by caring and attentive staff in all departments. This time I was granted with what they call a suite, which is a larger and indeed more comfortable room, yet it technically should not be sold as a suite itself, for it doesn't have three separate/individual chambers. Breakfast is, in my view, one of the best in town and even more plentiful than in some 5* hotels. I always look forward to my first meal of the day there in every stay. Salvador's first infinite pool is one of the best assets of the hotel, perfect for relaxation and for superb photos. One should give a chance to their restaurant, Casarão, for a fancy dinner, the place deserves more publicity for its high quality. All in all, aware of the structural undeniable problems related to ageing and proximity to the ocean, this Mercure remains my home outside home. Being greeted by name and with a smile from staff is most rewarding, I look forward to my return.

My girlfriend and I visited Salvador during a long weekend in Brazil and our experience in Mercure Rio Vermelho was incredible. First, the location: This was my first time in the city and I could see that Rio Vermelho is a great region for staying. More quiet, having good restaurants and pharmacies nearby. The hotel is amazing, our room had view to the beach and good space, the amenities were great (as most of the Mercure hotels have in the country). The breakfast is also great, the opportunity to have natural juices made to order is amazing (btw, the “suco verde” or “green juice” is a hit), the tapiocas and omelettes are great as well. But besides the structure, breakfast and the location, the staff is the best part of the hotel. In Mercure Rio Vermelho we could feel the traditional atmosphere from Bahia, where everyone is very kind and friendly. I celebrated my birthday during this trip, and the staff kindly gave me a card with a beautiful message written. Claudia is a staff member that I would like to mention, the is always present and helpful in the breakfast area. As an Accor ALL member, I could enjoy my welcome drink and the late checkout. That was an unforgettable way to travel and celebrate my birthday. “Muito obrigado”, Mercure Rio Vermelho!

The Mercure Rio Vermelho is in an excellent location next to the ocean! A fantastic infinity pool with an amazing view! This is what we expected when visiting Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. I made my first visit to this very hotel nine years ago, and I found it to be excellent then and excellent now. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the ocean. Best part, the window opens slightly so we could hear the crashing surf! Perfectly tranquil for a good night's sleep! The pool bar was well stocked and the bartender was attentive. Breakfast was amazing with everything you can think of. We were warmly greeted by the front desk staff. Jessica was an excellent host! Very courteous and professional, she managed every detail of our stay exceptionally well. Both Jessica & Vinicius speak English & Portuguese which made us very pleased! We look forward to returning!
