Surprised with how BAD the customer service

I already posted my first review about how terrible my stay was, but here is the additional info after seeing the Rikasari, the Front Office Manager’s manipulative reply. First of all, dont they also understand english? What I said was I needed to help the OTHER guests because their front office couldnt speak english. They twisted it like I had a language issue. Ridiculous. Then they proudly said my room was “fully booked” and “not ready” at 4.08 pm when check in time is 3 pm. And they replied like it is my fault the room was not ready. What kind of hotel logic is that? They also claimed they gave me a “complimentary upgrade” which is completely untrue. My booked room and the so-called upgraded room are exactly the same category. The only difference was the first one smelled like vomit. So please dont try to show the world like they gave me something special. They gave me nothing except wasted time and a horrible experience. Their response shows clearly they have no intention to apologize properly. Instead of taking responsibility, they twist the story to make themselves look good. Totally manipulative and disappointing. Novotel Palembang needs serious improvement in service, communication, honesty, and basic hospitality. I will never stay here again.

The food on the breakfast buffet was really good and the staff are very friendly. And Mas Firman was exceptional friendly to my family.

This hotel is conveniently located and moderately priced. Pretty good value for money. The staff are friendly, with somewhat limited English. My room was clean and comfortable. However, there are a few details that this property could easily FIX, which would improve their rating: 1) Check-in, The hotel charges a USD 18 deposit to your credit card when checking in, you are given a receipt for this, and the amount is returned in CASH when checking out. This is extra trouble for all parties! SKIP IT. 2) The room has a sign saying that one should NOT drink tap water, still bottled water is only provided at a charge from the mini-bar. One bottle should be complementary, this is to be expected. 3) The hotel offers a restaurant and the breakfast served exceeded my expectations, however when having dinner, one cannot charge the bill to the room. This was expected. 4) The minibar has a very limited offering and the fridge is not working, perhaps just skip this??

However, if the consumption amount exceeds the deposit, payment must be settled directly with our restaurant team. 4. Minibar: Kindly note that our hotel does not provide minibar service in the rooms. We apologize for any confusion caused.
