Just spent 2 nights in Chicago at the Sofitel and it was a perfect stay. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was large, spotless and quiet. Bar and restaurant in the lobby was convenient and the food quite good. Bed and bedding were excellent. There is nothing "boutique" about it. It's very professional and business like in decor. It's smack in the middle Chicago's shopping district and all the other big hotels are nearby as well. Very convenient for meetings in the area.

My friend and I had a nice time staying at Sofitel Chicago. Large, welcoming lobby and check-in agents. We stayed in a room with 2 beds, but still had space to move around, which can be rare to find in cities like Chicago. The hotel is located in the Gold Coast, so fine dining and even finer shopping is within a few short blocks. There are Nespresso machines in the rooms, but no mini bars. Not to worry though, the bar in the hotel is great!

Sofitel Chicago hosted the entire room block for my wedding in Chicago. I have nothing but great things to say about the whole experience. From the start of conversations, the Sofitel team was extremely easy to work with, responsive, and flexible with any changes or requests as our wedding details adjusted. Andrew, Stephano, Daniela, Amanda, Yaquelin...everyone we worked with was great. The hotel itself is in such a great part of Chicago, and the rooms were clean and spacious (relative to hotels in the middle of the city)...easy walk to the lake, downtown, and amazing food. Our guests continued to compliment the hotel choice and how great the staff were throughout the weekend--truly couldn't have asked for a better experience on our end.

This is a nice hotel that is centrally located. It has exceptional staff. Coffee and water available in the lobby. Ate breakfast in hotel restaurant. Again, exceptional staff, good food. Bar was convenient and bar staff very friendly. ‘Enjoyed this during our stay. Rooms good but not exceptional. Bathroom floors can be slippery after showering. Odd that one bathrobe was provided for two guests. Beds comfortable. Many restaurants within easy walking distance.

The description as a "luxury hotel" is misleading. While the outside and inside environment looks great, the Classic King room itself was subpar. The automatic closet light stayed on for our entire one-night stay because the closet door would not shut completely. The AC in the room did not function properly, when we arrived it was 73 degrees in the room- cooler outside than in our room- other non-"luxury" hotels upon arrival have the room ready.... the thermostat appeared to work, but it didn't actually cool the room. The AC came on, but as soon as it shut off the room went back to the original temperature. The bed was awkwardly made with no fitted sheet, just flat sheets tucked in over a comforter? weird. The shower looks great, but the shower head is not adjustable, so you are standing too close to the wall and controls in order to get an effective shower. Also, the water temp was either scalding hot or freezing cold, no amount of adjusting the controls worked. Additionally, we were charged an "amenity fee" plus tax after we checked out. Upon calling the front desk for an explanation, we were told that all guests are charged that fee; it is for wi-fi, the products in the bathroom, and the gym/spa----we used none of these amenities!! we used our own cell data, our own bath products and did not utilize the gym or spa. If this is an extra fee needed to cover your costs, just add it to the price of the room upfront.
