Lovely hotel with excellent staff!

We had a really pleasant time staying at this hotel as a base for our holiday to wider Egypt. Upon arrival we were offered a double room upgrade and given vouchers for the two additional restaurants. The room itself was huge with a balcony looking out on the garden and mountains beyond. The beach is right off the pool and there are plenty of good loungers, tables, and wind guards. Theres a good section of sea cordoned off to swim and the snorkeling is excellent - this was a big factor for us! We saw a huge variety of marine life right off the beach and the water is so clear that you can usually see the fish without even having to snorkel. There's plenty of activities from darts, golf, bocce and pool to keep you occupied and entertainment each night. However, our trip was made special due to some specific people. Not only is the food great, but it's also well suitable for those with allergies and intolerances. Mohammed made a point of finding us every morning at breakfast to give us gluten free bread and brought me various herbal teas when I was feeling ill. He's a kind man who tries hard to take best care of the guests. Similarly, Sous Chef Mammoud Shahien was exceptional. He would take us through every item in the buffet each night and explain what was suitable for our dietary requirements. He would also provide us with desserts at the end of our meal to ensure we didn't miss out! He takes allergies very seriously and really cares about looking after the guests and catering to their personal requirements - absolutely outstanding!!! Unfortunately, I did become unwell whilst I was away but I made a good recovery after visiting Dr Abdo. I was very keen to get to Cairo and with limited days left in the trip, I wasn't sure if I would be fit enough in time. However, Dr Abdo was very thorough in his assessment and advice and was able to give an accurate indication as to how I would likely be feeling at each stage. He gave me clear medical advice and was exactly right on the timeline of recovery. Due to this we were able to go on the excursion before returning home! It's also worth noting that he makes the insurance process very straightforward for you; so this need not be a point of concern. Lastly, we'd like to give a shoutout to Tasha from the animation team for taking us through the various mini-games of darts. That's was a lot of fun and something different. All in all, a really nice time and a place we'd look to return.

Poor food

Rooms outdated, the food is very poor quality and most of the time never changes. all of the family members got severe diarrhoea, the hotel shops are 3 times overpriced than a normal shop, but the staff and animation team were good and friendly, the shows are the same every week with nothing special.

The worst hospitality which i ever experienced in hurghada and i was in Hurghada 9 times!

Reception: Starting from reception and Mr. Saif which is so arrogant and unprofessional and i am also working in Hospitality in a very popular cruise line he is absolutely not good for reputation of Mercure hotel and because of him many people will not come back here again and i will definitely talk about this case. First of all he don’t know how to greet a guest and i am not the only one which is having this opinion because we talk between each other’s. Second thing if they explain to the guests something, and next day they change their mind or they forget what they say than later we have unnecessary conversation and loosing our time with arguing and on the end we need to call a manager to “fix” the problem. Food: Food is okey, almost the same with some poor daily rotation. Only 1 person is preparing pasta, and there is always big line, which is understandable because 1 person cant be so fast, so than means minimum 2 chefs suppose to make pasta for better quality and less waiting time in line. Chef Hamdy which Is making pies is super nice and friendly, and he is making delicious pies. Service: There is many nice people in service but unfortunately people like Saif is definitely lowering down the total rate of this hotel. Guys which are cleaning the tables deserve a raise and thank you for hard work. The entertainment team: Rose, Tamara and others they are kind, but program over the day is pretty much the same! In the evening there is opportunity to go in the club for 15 dollars with transfer and 1 drink. Room: Rooms are not in the best condition like for example shower cabin door can’t be closed properly, and the smell in the room was a but unpleasant. Room stewards were very kind and they are working hard every day. The door card is often not working so you need to walk all way around to unpleasant reception team to ask for help. Overall i will never again visit this hotel, because i don’t want to be treated with arrogance and unprofessional people. Mercure “thank you” for your unhospitality we will not see each other again.
