The staff was lovely. I had a great experience in The Old Cataract. I really recommend staying here, or at least have dinner/drink.

Great hotel in a wonderful location on the Nile. Exceptional service, especially from Solomon serving drinks on the Promenade, and Nour giving the tour of the Agatha Christie and Winston Churchill rooms.

Excellent stay at Old Cataract Hotel

We stayed at the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan for 2 nights during our tour of Egypt with Djed Egypt Travel. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and immaculate and the staff warm and welcoming. I'm sorry we missed the daily 4pm tour so we could the visit other historical areas of the hotel. Our room was in the annex overlooking the Nile and hotel grounds. Spectacular! The room was quite large with a king bed, separate sitting area with sofa, a bar, large closets, bathroom, and balcony. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It was worth the splurge to watch the fellucas sailing on the Nile from our balcony. We would definitely stay here again.

Staying at the Old Cataract Hotel is not merely checking into accommodation; it's stepping into a living piece of history. Perched majestically on a cliff overlooking the Nile in Aswan, the hotel absolutely lives up to its legendary status. From the moment you walk through the historic palm-lined driveway into the grand, orientalist-style lobby, you are transported to the era of Agatha Christie and Winston Churchill (both famed guests). The sense of timeless elegance is palpable. Our room in the historic Palace wing was spacious, beautifully appointed with traditional furniture, and offered a breathtaking, direct view of the Nile and the sailing feluccas. Waking up to that vista was worth every penny. The newer wing offers more modern comforts but lacks the same character. The true highlight was the **terrace**. Having sunset cocktails on the terrace, with the iconic view of the Nile and the distant desert, is an experience we will cherish forever. Dining in the legendary **1902 Restaurant** (jacket required for gentlemen) was like dining in a museum, with superb food and live classical music. The service throughout was impeccable—attentive, discreet, and genuinely warm.
