The Old Cataract is a legendary hotel! It exudes old world charm and elegance. The location is amazing, the views along the Nile stunning, and the grounds are spectacular. If you like history and find yourself anywhere near Aswan, do yourself a favor and spend a couple of nights here. The staff was also wonderful. Marvel, at the front desk, was delightful.

Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Corniche El Nile, Aswan, Egypt Dear Team, I wanted to share my incredible experince at Sofitel Legend *Old Cataract* Your comfortable rooms with the breath taking views at the new tower and outstanding team it made my trip unforgettable. & the *spa* treatments was very profisional I had a massage with ( Physiotherapist ) *Donia* I could truly say it was the best ever as she was very skilled Thank you for making my time in Aswan unforgettable I highly recommend & your profisional team your hotel and look forward to returning few several times a year Best regards, Mrs Nouf M Abdulaziz & friends

The Cataract Hotel is a stunning and historical destination brought to life by the exceptional team, especially Miss Marvel. Her professionalism and warmth turned our visit into a memorable journey filled with fascinating anecdotes and fun facts. Such a cultivated and engaging individual, we left mesmerized not only by the beauty of the hotel but also by her outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended place. Centrally located in Aswan (Dress smart for the 1902 restaurant)

Doing the iconic tour of the Nile and this was the last stop …truly beautiful legendary hotel with fabulous view …no doubt We were in the newer wing above the spa splendid room with beautiful terrace and fabulous view of the Nile with the sail boats and elephantine island Indoor pool was small but lovely and warm unlike the outside pool (December) massage was also great Breakfast was a disappointment lots of nothing really but served in the iconic dining room so more of an experience Lunch ..we had on the terrace …basic but again beautiful iconic setting Bar….beautiful rich looking area empty as ridiculously priced Supper…again food was disappointing So summing it up yes nice end to trip legendary hotel fantastic setting but food is a downside

We did dinner at 1920 restaurant and I ate the best vegetarian gluten free food at restaurant. Can’t say enough about the Egyptian hospitality. Our server Essam took such a good care of us. Loved the food and thanked our chef. The piano player played such beautiful melodies that my whole experience went many notches up. Thanks again to chef, Essam and his team as well as the great pianist.
