Was originally booked at the sister hotel, the Novotel. They contacted me on the day of arrival to say their aircon was broken and they had no fans. These things happen. We understand that. They out booked us to the ibis. There was no gesture of goodwill, not even the offer of complimentary breakfast. An ibis next to a car dealership is not the same as a Novotel with a swimming pool and views of the park. We gave them 3 opportunities to make a gesture of goodwill but they refused saying they had internal politics. Not impressed at all. We asked for the Accor customer service email address but they just ignored us / pretended not to understand.

Management refused to honor a confirmed booking.

I made a confirmed booking for this Ibis back in December 2023. I middle of March, they wrote to me that they were full and would not honor my booking, even being for the moment Accor All Gold. They only proposed to downgrade me to an Ibis Budget with zero compensation. Part of the room was already paid using points. I raise the issue that they should find me an alternative in a equivalent or better hotel. They offered me another Ibis, but how ridiculous is this, they wanted me to pay the difference! Tons of email exchange. Management is clearly dishonest and of bad faith! They tried to claim a Black out date! But I had a confirmed booking...and they took over two month and half to reach to me. Avoid this place if you can! Accor should not allow this kind of one sided dishonest behavior from a property.

Dear Customer, The dates on which your reservation was made are considered BOD (black out dates) because they are blocked for a special event planned from year to year. Customers with their ACCOR card unfortunately have the option of booking by forcing their reservation. The latter is forced on the reservation system, and when we manually check the reservations date by date, we notice this overreservation. This is why we have warned you as soon as possible. Air conditioning defective, no reduction in price or notice at check-in.

When we checked in, we were not informed that the air conditioning was broken. This condition is not acceptable for the price of this hotel. Directly under the roof it was impossible to sleep at 33 degrees celsius. Opening the window was not an option because of the noisy traffic. Neither we nor the other guests, who also complained right after check-in, were offered goodwill. The condition of the rooms is very basic and not up to IBIS standards. Only the breakfast and the friendliness of the staff were good.

A small hotel with friendly and extremely helpful staff. A place to stay if your on a business trip with a thigh schedule. Half way from the city center and the airport you do not have to worry about traffic if leaving Pau.

Average stay - poor breakfast & no restaurant during the covid19 crisis

Set on a shopping park on the edge of town (as they often are in France), small clean rooms, comfy beds, good, free surface carpark, pets accepted at €5 a night. We have stayed at the Ibis at Pau Lescar before and I chose it again because it has a nice outdoor seating area for the restaurant, which means you can have the dog with you. On checking in, the first problem is................no restaurant ! It might have been nice if they'd told me that when I made the booking ! Second problem was, no buffet breakfast, order your breakfast on a form at check-in. At least the outside seating area was still there and we could get a drink from the bar and have it there, the inside seating was also all there in case it got chilly later (which it did !) So, what do we do now, we've driven all the way from Spain and we are hungry. Because we have stayed before, we knew there was a McDonalds next door, but we don't do McDonalds ! Got back in the car and after a bit more exploring we found a nice patisserie on the other side of the dual carriageway that sold pizzas, so we had to have that ! Took it back to the hotel and used their outside seating which I didnt think they could complain about. Next morning, the breakfast on a tray was rubbish ! We only got 1 tiny croissant, 1 tiny bread roll that was only part baked so very hard, a bit of jam, orange juice and coffee. Each breakfast was €5.50, so an €11 rip off altogether. We would have been better going back to the patisserie but it wasnt open due to our early start. Then, when we checked out, the card machine wasn't working even though they said only card payments !! God job I had some cash ! I stayed in 6 Ibis hotels this trip in Spain & France and I can honestly say this was the worst. I naively thought that all Ibis hotels in France would be taking the same approach to the Covid19 crisis and presenting the guest experience in the same way. How wrong could I be? Ibis Pau Lescar should take note of what the hotels further north are doing, particularly Tours Sud & Abbeville as they were so much better !
