Room was dirty & dated not even 1 star - Room changed by manager to a partly refurbished lower floor. The not so welcome drink was served in a dirty wine glass, which when asked to by changed took several attempts to find clean glass. Renovation used as excuse for poor standards.

The location is lovely. The parc is quite pleasant and walking to the center of town is easy. The hotel seems not to have been renovated since the 1980's. The woman at the front desk when we arrived was just lovely, very friendly. The room however was disappointing. Bathroom had not been well cleaned, dust on the tp holder, the shower curtain (yes, a thin white polyester shower curtain) was dirty at the edge. The carpet hadn't been changed in years. The room served its purpose for one night. Where the experience went even further downhill was dinner in the restaurant. We had a deluge that evening and my husband recommended we just eat at the hotel. I suspected this was not a good idea but ok. The food was dreadful; they had to re-heat his dish twice, the service was fine, they tried but could not make it work. Fortunately they had a very good bottle of wine that only slightly made up for the meal. So to summarize, best stay somewhere else in Besançon.

The staff is just so friendly and lovely it’s a pleasure to stay there. It’s a basic Mercure, nicely located but have come back a few times now when I travel through the area because the staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful.

As a All-member don’t expect the amenities you are used to. There was no welcome-drink, welcome-gesture or roomupgrade. The hotel is dated which is reflected in the price. The breakfastrestaurant is renewed and there is enough choice. The members of staff responsible for The breakfast are very friendly. The location of The hotel is really good.

Not much to add to some other recent reviews, it is a very tired property, rooms in bad need of renovation. Staff match the overall quality, nothing outright objectable, but a little more enthusiasm and attention to guests' needs would help. On the positive side the location is very good, central downtown just across the bridge, overall a pleasant but unexceptional stay.
