horrible noise

We chose Novotel lisboa for our family vacation and we were greatly disappointed. Upon arrival we were informed by one of the lovely staff (only one person manning the reception desk) that there were renovations going on in the hotel and that there would be work from 10:00 to 18:00, We were not informed about this when making the reservation online, knowing beforehand we would have chosen other lodging. The next day we were woken up by unbearable hammering at 8 in the morning, disrupting our much needed rest. We notified the receptionist and were told that it was an external company working and that they did not know they would start so early, we were told they would inform the company to avoid reoccurrence. The next day the hammering and drilling started at 8:15 in the morning, our complaints had been ignored. That was not the only incident. The first room we were assigned had a broken sofa bed and we had to transfer rooms after having set up already. The new room had an insufferable sofa bed and our children were quite uncomfortable. Finally, if you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel or area for you. Despite the double windows, airplanes passing are heard constantly and this is especially noticeable at night as the Lisbon airport is a busy one. The staff were friendly and it seems they have to suffer the consequences of poor management.

This IS the worst hotel experience of my life. I chose the NOVOTEL because of their impeccable reputation for quality. They are doing construction on the hotel and there is banging and a jackhammer going all day long. They even cut the electricity off during the day to make it even more inconvenient. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS IN ADVANCE OF THIS MASSIVE INCONVENIENCE. DO NOT STAY HERE OR IF YOU ARE TEMPTED, ENSURE THAT THERE IS NO CONSTRUCTION. THIS IS NOT ONLY A DISAPPOINTMENT, BUT A TERRIBLE HUMILIATION FOR THE ENTIRE ACCOR GROUP.

Bad experience first time in Lisbon. We arrived by 12 ish, waited until 4 pm to have our room ready, on top of that there were unbelievable noise some kind of construction above the room going on, we approached the manager this is not fair to us do something, she said nothing she can do take it or leave it attitude, it was disappointing pretty much we just landed, will never be there again.

A nightmare!!! They rented us a room next to where they where doing works and not only I could not work, but I couldn't even hear my friend when she was talking, not even shouting. You should not have rented the room in this condition, shame on you
