Comfortable hotel with lovely staff

We were part of a coach party visiting Christmas markets in Koln and Koblenz. This hotel clearly is geared towards the business trade rather than tourist’s because of where it is situated and the car park was somewhat challenging for our coach driver. The restaurant does not open in the evenings at weekends so factor that in if you are staying during those times. Once armed with that information and you are prepared then you should enjoy your stay here. The hotel itself is clean, warm and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and so accommodating - particularly Erij and Kay who helped us out immensely on the Saturday night helping us order takeaway meals that were delivered to the hotel and enabling us to eat them at the bar. We found our room to be very comfortable and quiet - the housekeeping staff do an amazing job. The breakfasts are lovely and there is plenty to choose from. (I have to add that the hotel did have a meal ready for us on the Friday evening when we arrived but that was because it was agreed that we all paid in advance. Thank you to the catering staff for putting on a great spread and for coming in on your night off!)

Probably the most toxic working environment as otherwise the staff wouldn’t be this much hateful. Me and my clients decided to have some drinks in the lobby bar before we go out for the dinner and Bartender Aidin served us and then we quickly had our drinks and headed out for the dinner but the he stopped us at the doorsteps to say "you have not paid the bill" which was true as we had totally forgotten that.. I apologised probably 10 times from him and we returned back to lobby to pay the bill but he was talking like "You are an adult and you should learn not to leave without paying" and I thought he was joking so I didn't say anything but he was still talking in German and I didn't understand anyword.. I didn't care and ignored his rudeness, paid 11 eur bill and left the hotel for the dinner.. we returned back to the hotel after 2 hours and wanted have some more drinks with my clients so sat in the lobby ordered our drinks and same waiter, Aidin served our drinks with the bill in the hand and I said "Can you please add it to the bill because we will sit longer and we will have more drinks, not only one. so I can make one payment instead". He rejected it and said "you have to pay now because you should learn not to leave your table without paying it so you are paying now, not later". he clearly told these in front of my clients and everyone else in the bar and he was clearly getting more rude as we talk. Everytime we ordered drinks he told me to pay it immediately unlike all of the other guests in the bar and even worse was we had to call him a couple of times to order as he was deliberately ignoring our table.

Dear sir, thank you very much for your comment. I totally understand your concern and I can only apologize for this unpleasant experience that you’ve maid during your stay at our hotel. I talked to everyone who has been involved and understood, that you complaint already at the hotel. Our resident manager tried to explain to you the special circumstances with regard to the behaviour of our employee. He was completely overwhelmed with the situation and should of course have contacted his supervisor who was present on that evening too. Please be sure that we will discuss this in detail during a special meeting which has been scheduled for this week. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. I will personally take care of it. For now please accept my sincere apology and I hope that you will probably visit us again some time. This hotel is not close to Bonn; city centre bit of in the middle of nowhere , no access to food or shops. The longest checkin was at this hotel if they take this long they should provide a chair as checkin takes ages for one person. Hotel was not busy at all. It is a bit of dated hotel, no room service, restaurant closes at 9pm limited choices. The room was basic no fridge and ask for amenities. The bed was a strange low bed, not European standard with thin layer of sheet and duvet. No taxi service available if or airport pick up. Just did not seem 4* experience at all. No Accor member benefits. ( no water provided). Breakfast- basic but at least some vegetarian options and some labelled and some not. Checkout was a lot smoother and done well by the staff.

Poor hygiene, messy, tired

The hygiene levels of the bedrooms were poor with Staines on the carpet. The bedding was too small for the bed with a single duvet on a double bed. the Hotel was very tired and messy. The swimming pool was empty and filthy. The hotel photos on the website does not reflect the truth unfortunately.

We found this hotel a bit dissapointing for a Mercure hotel. The location is not great, although walking distance to some local shops and restaurants. The room was a bit dated, the bed and mattress has seen better days and having to take a shower standing in a bathtub is never ideal. On a positive note, the windows do open and because of our gold membership there was a free mini bar. We stayed 3 nights, from which the hotel restaurant was only open 1 night, but no a la carte, just a mediocre buffet. The staff was mostly indifferent, except for Kay (restaurant/bar) who was very friendly and helpful. I can't see any reason to return.
