I was very disappointed with my stay at the Fairmont El San Juan. While the property has a great location and aesthetic, the overall experience did not meet the expectations of a luxury resort. The room was very standard and had a noticeable moldy, musty smell that made it uncomfortable to relax or sleep. For a hotel at this price point, cleanliness and air quality should be a basic standard. Additionally, the front desk staff were unwelcoming and dismissive. Interactions felt cold and unhelpful, and there was a clear difference in how guests were treated. I observed white patrons receiving noticeably warmer, more attentive service, while I was met with indifference. The experience carried subtle but undeniable undertones of bias, which made me feel uncomfortable and undervalued as a guest. Hospitality should be inclusive and respectful to all guests. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my stay. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Amazing service at the Beach/Pool

We were visiting Puerto Rico for the Bad Bunny concert and the Fairmont did not disappoint. The staff is amazing, especially Wilifred, Enwil and the pool staff (I believe her name was Ashley or Jessica.) We look forward to coming back!

Decent meeting hotel. Tech issues are a problem

Decent hotel. Updated facility in a nice location...close to airport but still quiet. TV in room is programmed to turnoff after an hour or so...complete pain to get back on. Charging plugs are so worn that they won't deliver current to USB or hold a 110 V plug. Many Room light switches don't work. Desk light is inoperable. Room cleaners have LOUD conversations down the hallway a lot.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused by the television settings, in-room charging outlets, lighting issues, and desk lamp. This is certainly not the level of comfort or functionality we strive to provide, particularly for our business and meeting guests. Your comments have been shared with our Engineering team for immediate review and corrective action. We are also very sorry to hear about the noise disturbances in the hallway. Unfortunately, this was not the experience we expected from a luxury resort at this price point. Service throughout the hotel was consistently poor. It was difficult to reach anyone by phone, restaurant reservations were unavailable, and valet service was unresponsive, staff often looked at us without offering help. Our room was missing basic amenities such as bathrobes, and the lotion bottle was empty upon arrival. Dining was another disappointment. The food quality did not match the hotel’s reputation, and servers were unwilling to explain menu items when asked, which made the experience feel rushed and unwelcoming. For $700 per night, guests should receive attentive service, warmth, and thoughtful details. Sadly, this stay fell far below those expectations.

Buyer Beware: Resort Pass Scam

We tried to book a cabana on resort pass but our car broke down before we headed over there and we were unable to go. We told them within 30minutes of booking and they took days to get back to us. They ended up charging us the full $360 for this and refused a refund despite having multiple that no one was using and us. This hotel is very scammy for such a high end resort. Buyer be ware.

We would like to clarify that cabanas reserved through ResortPass are subject to the cancellation and refund policies agreed to at the time of booking, which are managed directly by that third-party platform. Unfortunately, once a reservation is confirmed, the hotel does not have the ability to override or modify ResortPass charges, even when the cabana ultimately goes unused. That said, we regret any delay in communication and understand how frustrating this situation must have been, especially given the unexpected nature of your circumstances.
