Wonderful stay at the Hilltop Pool Villa - Raffles Praslin

This was an excellent stay at the Raffles, Praslin Island, however there are limitations. Pros: The villa was great in terms of the views and the overall layout (faultless); the room service (was good, however inconsistent at times, we had no hand towels for three days which was a bit strange) and amenities top notch (we loved the little gifts provided during turn down service), the buggy service brilliant (always within five minutes), the menu at The Curieuse restaurant was varied and pleasant (however there are no fine dining restaurants here. Having a Michelin star restaurant on site to celebrate an occasion would have been wonderful as most of us are here to celebrate a momentous occasion). We had very pleasant dealings with Essam who oversees the restaurants. He was single-handedly responsible for raising our stay from a good to a great one. He went to great lengths to make certain that the strengths of the Raffles brand was on full display. He made us feel special, and I cannot overemphasize this aspect. I would also like to mention Kareem here who was also most courteous and went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Cons: There were some elements which we felt could be improved upon. The property is in need of updating and re-design. The breakfast spread is quite limited in the Losean, and not befitting the Raffles brand. The menu at the Losean was limited in terms of options for dinner. Those choosing to come to the Raffles in Praslin should be aware that there are no areas where any of the guests could enjoy a brief respite from either the weather or the biting insects, and this was a disappointment. Air conditioned areas within the restaurants are highly limited which was very surprising. While we were there the air conditioning in the Loslean restaurant was out of order throughout our stay which made breakfast in the morning a sweaty affair. The only air conditioned space we could see was in the Sushi restaurant. We believe this is a major design flaw of the Raffles. Although restaurant servers were pleasant and courteous we felt some lacked attention to detail, and didn’t keep you informed when wait times were long. We felt these areas could be improved by more rigorous mentorship and training. Caution: 1. Please be weary that there is a high prevalence of sandflies - and hence there is a high probability of being bitten. Insect repellent didn’t work for me. 2. If you book a tour through concierge to go to Curieuse island, please note you need to wade through water, seaweed and sandflies to get on the boat as there is no jetty on the beach. This resulted in several bites. 3. Drinks are universally expensive in the Seychelles. Expect to pay 240-400 SCR per cocktail, beer, spirit. 4. Bring Euros and also change some Euros to SCR in Seychelles. Lots of sightseeing places only accept SCR in cash and not credit card (example Sauzier waterfall, tea factory).

Loved the Room view with Mountains sea and plants. It was awesome place to stay. Food was so tasty. Staff here were super awesome. Assistant manager and chef made our Anniversary Dinner very special with arrangements near rock and sea. It was most memorable moments of our life under full moon.

Perfect: fantastic breakfast with sparkling wine and a wonderful view over the sea and islands - if you sit outside which we did almost every day. Surprise: great with the small evening boxes left in the room which contained local spices, nuts and other good stuff. Great beach days: ice water and local homemade refreshments served at the beach. Could be better: alcohol princes in the upper end. Tip: Calculate your price for premium wine using a smaller profit margin than for cheaper wines. Not good: we got a bungalow close to main building and the noise from the generator was terrible. With the high price the hotel charge for a night this is really not acceptable - get it fixed asap!! Thanks to all the staff for making our holiday great.

60th Birthday Celebration

This was our second visit to Raffles and we were once again not disappointed. From arrival to departure we were looked after superbly by the whole team. The only slight disappointment was the villa which was not as elevated as last time we visited. We had booked a panoramic pool villa and assumed these were all on the top level of the resort but we were one level down. Although we still had a fantastic panoramic view we did not have the privacy we had last visit when we were on the top level. We had a butler this visit (Leon) who checked on us regularly and organised requests effectively and efficiently. We were hoping to have dinner on the beach for my birthday but it was fully booked, however there was a cancellation on the day and Leon contacted us and arranged everything efficiently. We also were gifted a sundowner by the resort for my birthday. I though it would just be a cocktail on the beach, but was instead a trip to Anse Lazio for sunset by private car with champagne and canapes. My wife said she felt like royalty! A special mention to Suman (sorry if I've spelled that incorectly) who looked after us on the beach and also the driver who took us there (didn't get his name I'm afraid!). Special mention must also go to Angelina at breakfast who remembered our villa number after the first day, greeted us with a smile every morning and got us one of the best tables with a view out over the sea to Curieuse. There were also many buggy drivers who were friendly, chatty and happy to talk and seem genuinely interested in our stay. We never had to wait longer than three or four minutes for a buggy which is a bonus when standing out in the sun!

It sounds like your 60th birthday celebration at Raffles was truly memorable and special! Despite the slight disappointment with the villa's elevation, it's evident that the outstanding service from the whole team, including your butler Leon, made your stay exceptional. The effort to arrange a beach dinner for your birthday and the unexpected sundowner trip to Anse Lazio with champagne and canapes truly made you feel like royalty. Special mentions to Suman, Angelina, and the attentive buggy drivers highlight the personalized and attentive service you received throughout your stay. It's wonderful to hear that every detail, from breakfast to transportation around the resort, was handled with care and efficiency. Thank you for sharing such a memorable experience!
