My dream wedding venue & hotel stay!

We had our wedding here in September 2025, all the staff were top tier!! Hospitality was amazing!! The giant fig tree was the star of the show during our ceremony, planted in 1800’s by the founder of Santa Monica, it’s a historical monument. The ballrooms are huge, and have just a timeless feel to them. We loved the chandeliers and they looked great in photographs. Gave it a classy, vintage vibe. My wedding had vintage elements, and classic elements to it. So everything complemented each other. I needed less decor and items in the reception because it felt nice in there already. It was also very easy to work with George, who helps be your point of contact. He answered any strange or specific questions that I had within a few hours. He was great to work with. The food was unbelievable, as we did our rehearsal dinner here, and the reception here. We also stayed in a bungalow that was 2 stories, and had an ocean view with an outdoor patio! We used this as the bridal suite on the morning of the wedding to get our hair and makeup done. The next day many wedding guests all had breakfast with my husband and I at the Fig restaurant which is our favorite place to eat at as we live locally to Santa Monica. Everything was exactly how I dreamed my wedding weekend would be. I cannot recommend this property enough for food, lodging, and banquet events!! All the guests kept saying it was the nicest wedding they have ever been to, and guests still tell us that 3 months later! Cannot recommend this establishment enough!!

Terrance was absolutely amazing. Professional while keeping us comfortable. He did a wonderful job making us feel welcome and giving us good advice, as to, restaurants, night life, and surrounding experiences! We will come back hoping to see him manning the bar.

This hotel is well located and very comfortable rooms. I was impressively impressed by the staff – the woman on the operator line helped me with three different queries the same night, the concierge offered to store my bicycle in the bell closet, and another concierge (Jordan) used his knowledge of suits and some phone calls to help me get out of an emergency situation and find a tux at the last minute. Thanks to them a for making the extra effort with these seemingly little things that go a long way.

Poor property and also a declining brand overall

Bad experience overall across multiple dimensions with Fairmont. This property in particular was a let down but also the brand overall seems to no longer get stand for a nice hotel and premium service. The rooms was quite old and even a bit dirty. The pictures on the website are misleading as the rooms do not look like that. The service is slow. And even the elevator was out of service (see picture). Fairmont’s own central customer support (Accor) has really poor service with overhauled staff and supervisors who don’t get back to you.

Dirty mattress and broken toilet.

Upon check-in the mattress of the sofa bed was dirty, had food crumbs, hair, and didn’t have bed sheets. Also the toilet didn’t work. I called to report these issues and no one came to fix them for over 30 minutes. Went to the front desk to report it and asked for a room change. It took them 1.5 hrs to fix these issues and they couldn’t change me to another room. Very disappointing for a Fairmont which is supposed to be a “fine hotel”. Kids were disgusted and annoyed. Addressing these issues took away our entire first night of vacation… defeats the purpose of the trip.
