Motel from a horror movie!

Where do I start! A few positives- close to airport, central for travelling, cute tea and coffee making facilities and water in fridge, comfy beds. Negatives- looks like a run down motel from hell! Very very noisy! We were put on the bottom floor with a tiled corridor which echoed badly. Work men were staying there who woke us up very early every day. Every noise from the corridor sounded louder than necessary. Many guests use the hotel for airport stays which we had no issue with, although some consideration for long term guests on a different floor would have been more accommodating. Why were we placed on the floor with 1 night staying guests and work men ? With a view of the bins! We found this was a little insensitive and requested a quieter room which was granted by a very understanding female receptionist. Unfortunately this could not be said for some receptionists or cowardly management. They all need to stay one night in that corridor to appreciate how loud and disruptive it is. On moving rooms we found that like the previous rooms there were things that didn’t work such as the kettle, exposed wiring, toilet fan, (the bathroom fan stayed on permanently) leaking shower, dirty cutlery, hairs, stains and so on. The noise slightly improved on the first floor with a view of the mountains, but there was a lingering smell of smoke and people up and about during the night. They also require a deposit of 100 euros per room, we refused to pay this (we had 2 rooms) on arrival due to our lack of awareness and the very vague terms and conditions. We in fact believe that we should have been refunded that for the inconvenience of the noise alone. We’re so glad we did not pay this as we believe they need to improve their service and condition of the hotel before asking guests for deposit money or accusing them of any malpractice. If it was in good clean order with everything working correctly then I could understand their request. Ironically the workmen and groups (who made the most noise) do not have to pay this. It is the worst hotel in 25 years of holidays that we have ever experienced. However, the area has a lot to offer, it is beautiful and we made the most of our hire car seeing the sights and meeting many lovely people. Annecy was delightful, lake Genin and Mont Blanc were amazing. We did not have a poor meal anywhere outside of the hotel (cannot comment on hotel food) there was a run down restaurant next door with travellers staying close by although they kept themselves to themselves. In summary, we had a great holiday, it was tainted somewhat by the “dungeon” style stay. We went out as much as possible which meant we had time to spend in many lovely places. Saint Genis itself is quaint with some good places to eat or drink. Fantastic bakery/pattiserie there where we went for breakfast pastries and local bread. It was a shame we had such a bad experience at this hotel, our holiday was ruined by the horrors of sleepless nights and unexpected disasters with faulty equipment, we don’t often review stays but this needed to be said. This is to warn people that the bad reviews are likely true. The 1 star is for the girl on reception who understood our concerns and assisted us in moving rooms. Thank you whoever you are. We will not be back to the “dungeon” but we would happily return to the area.

Just like to thank manek and his team for going the extra mile for helping my wife gluten free options for breakfast and dinner while we stayed one night. All the staff were amazing and friendly and the food was delicious and freshly cooked. thank you

We only stayed here for a night as part of a group tour, and it was a nice and comfortable stay. The staff was really nice and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were good as well, so there were no complaints. We found it great. The room was having all the necessities like refrigerator, fans, dishes, dishwasher etc.

Awful hotel - avoid. Sofa bed, wifi doesn’t work, rude manager, grotty hotel. Do not stay here. Hôtel horrible - à éviter. Canapé-lit. gestionnaire impoli. moche. Ne restez pas ici ! Rooms are shabby and run down. Depressing place with poor ventilation and terrible customer service.

When we came for the breakfast, all tables were durty, not cleaned ans !!! the buffet was totally empty ! only 3 pieces of bread. The poor joung lady at the front desk was alone to repare the big mess for this very very poor breakfast Asa member Accor since a long time, it was just an unforgettable experience
