Comfortable, located just off the motorway, but needs a refurbishment

I stayed here for one night in December 2025. I chose this hotel as it was on the way to where I needed to be the next day and I didn't want to face the traffic driving into central Bristol. The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city in a rural setting and is not far from the M4. There is an Aldi supermarket a couple of miles from the hotel. The hotel has a large carpark. The hotel is fine and somewhat elegant but is starting to show its age. The first impression is that the driveway has several potholes (that should be easy to fix!) and the interior of the hotel would benefit from a refurbishment, eg new paint, carpet etc. There are several lounge areas good for having a drink and relaxing. I can see that this would be a good venue for a corporate retreat, wedding etc. The dinner menu was varied and the breakfast was fine, ie a good selection of cold items and a cooked breakfast available.

The first “Privelidge” room key I got had blood on the sheets when I pulled the douvet back to air the bed there was blood on the sheet with hair in the bed! I was thankfully moved to another room the next day after a long day at work to find the room had not been refreshed. The staff on the reception have been superb in dealing with the issues but I need to say it’s just acceptable and management need to act swiftly…….. I’ll let you make your own decision.

This is not the experience we want any of our guests to have. I recently held my baby shower at this hotel, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. The team were incredibly helpful from start to finish, from assisting with the setup to giving us the entire room to host the event. We had a few dietary requirements, and they handled everything perfectly. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the location itself was stunning, which made the day feel even more special. I’d definitely come back again and highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to host an event. Thank you to the entire team for making my baby shower so memorable! 💛
