Our plane got cancelled and the next flight was Friday and the airline gave us a free stay in this hotel and the staff was great the manager was great the gym was great and the pool was great the food was great beds are good u will sleep well and it is amazing

Staff very good, gym good, breakfast decent, bed very comfortable, air con excellent , room decor nice but tired...needs a refresh ... peeling paint, multiple scuffed marks on walls, doors etc Very central location & very close to restaurants, but the area outside was dirty & full of addicts ( this is NOT the hotels fault).

Paid for a privilege room as advertised with a separate seating area. This consisted of a square type of sofa bed in the room which didn’t even face the TV, totally uncomfortable and precarious to even sit on. Although the room was a good size the bathroom was tiny. The whole room needs an update. Our room faced out the back of the hotel which did make it very quiet and as on the 5th floor was only a few rooms so no disturbance. The staff were very friendly, especially the breakfast staff. Breakfast was buffet style and was decent with a good selection. Regularly ‘topped up’ as needed. Sadly probably the worst sausages I’ve ever had. A good centrally based hotel for Nottingham but generally just felt a bit grubby.

418 - AVOID!!

This trip was booked via a independent travel agent who i learned had used Expedia to make the booking. We needed a hotel that was close to the arena (Joe Bonamassa concert which was FANTASTIC) and this hotel, certainly fit the bill on that score. The staff were lovely and the hotel was close to the arena. I was suprised at how vibrant the nightlife was, with lots of individual bars cafes and restaurants. The bedding was clean and fresh - and it was white.They're the good bits. The bad bits. Room 418 is classed as a 'double room'. The double bed is pushed against the wall and if there are two people in the room, you have to move around one another to move. It would be possibly for two people to be in the bathroom at the same time. The blind was pulled down and when I looked out of the window, we overlooked the rear yards of surrounding businesses that were stacked with rubbish bags (thank goodness we were on the 4th floor!). The room was 'tatty',with marks on the walls and blinds and the carpet was threadbare in places. The bed was uncomfortable - too small and every time one of us moved we rolled towards or away from one another. There was an ironing board propped up between the bed and where the coat hangers were - there wasn't anywhere else it could have gone but it just added to teh oevrall unkempt look and feel of the room. There is no car parking at the hotel (we did know this in advance) but the car park closest costs £20.95 for 24 hours. Breakfast. the dining room is on the first floor and shares a space with a small bar. I think there were three members of staff (who were rushed off their feet). A buffet style breakfast was on offer and we both opted to have a cooked breakfast - the hot food was contained in Bain Maries. I decided against the sausages and mushrooms as the sections they were in, didn't appear to be hot enough because the food was sat in congealed oil/fat. I opted for bacon, hash browns, fried egg and beans - which were fine. We'd been offered hot drinks as we were sat down but we'd finished our meals and had to ask again (the staff were REALLY busy). The coffee arrived. Too hot and bitter/burned, so we left it. We paid almost £140 for the night and can't say that we felt it was good value for money - far from it! We wouldn't stay there again and wouldn't recommend it. The staff were apologetic at checkout - but the issues I've highlighted aren't their fault.

We can see you chose to reserve our entry level room grade, a City Pad. These rooms are small, more ideal for one guest but can sleep 2. We have larger rooms here at Mercure Nottingham City Centre such as our Privilege rooms and Suites. Both of which I am confident would provide the additional space you require or desire I apologise should the view of the city have disappointed or offended you due to you being able to see rubbish from neighbouring businesses in the distance. Your observations about the breakfast experience and the overall value you felt you received are also important to us, and we will be reviewing these points with our team to see where we can make improvements. Priviledge room, but without the privileges…

Room 205 had no privileges as was advertised. No character, blocked shower drain and extractor fan not working. Staff hid behind hotel being 230 years old so couldn’t fix and room being renovated (so why advertise as priviledge?) avoid!!!

While our hotel’s historic nature can present some challenges, it is never an excuse for facilities not being in proper working order. I understand how disappointing that must have been.
