Shabby Leisure Centre Facilities

Used the leisure centre and again just want to reiterate that the gents changing rooms have over 50 lockers but still only maybe 6 lockers with keys all bunched in a corner, lockers need repairs and keys replaced. The rest area in the leisure centre reception area has seats that are falling apart and an embarrassment plus the drinks machine is a total rip off with drinks at £1 a cup but you only get a very small amount. This has the makings of a great centre but is shabby in most areas!!

Poor experience. Here on business and was given room 21 on the top floor which is a pain as no lifts ( or we didn’t know about them ) So had loads of stairs to contend with, with luggage. Room tiny, bed tiny. Just not adequate. Room was clean though. I wanted a bath and no plug. Asked reception for plug and was promised one. 40 minutes later and still no plug and time is ticking away as we are going to dinner. Then try calling reception only for nobody to answer. Then husband has to go back downstairs and collar a manager who didn’t seem to understand what a flipping bath plug is.

Got home today from a 2 night stay at Mercure Albrighton to celebrate my wife's birthday. Booked through Secret Escapes, which we use often this is by far the best yet. Booked in by Germaine, who explained everything clearly and was ALWAYS on hand to deal with any questions we had....(I don't believe she ever goes home, I think she lives there..in a room or a cupboard) Thank you! ..Our room was in the original creaky part of the hotel, very atmospheric.. but the room was very contemporary and spotless. The view wasn't..overlooking the bins, but that's not a criticism that affected my view of our stay. Food was fabulous!.. I had crab linguine, one of the best hotel meals I've had ever, it was a very busy night and we had a long wait between our starter and main but.. 'Riverdance'.. (Ryan the waiter given that name by me as his footwear sounded on the solid floors as he rushed about)..apologised and produced 2 complementary glasses of wine as a reward for our patience. Both he and Morgan the bartender were both efficient and receptive to humourous small talk despite being under pressure and working the late shift,...and both were back in this morning!! It seems most of the staff there hide somewhere overnight..lol!! The pool and thermal suite was exceptional, with multiple sauna's and steam rooms and..new to me a COLD room with ice and cold shower to bring body temperature back to normal quickly....oh and FLUFFY towels!!...not those 180 grade sandpaper sheets many hotels give you!! Summing up...a really good quality hotel in (for me) a newly discovered and beautiful part of England. The staff were great, taking pride in and showing commitment to their roles.. and that can make a huge difference to whether your stay is enjoyable..or not...All aspects were great for the price we paid....Do I recommend it??...the answer is.. read the above or if your bored by now...YES!...Already booking again for Christmas time👌

Beautiful pretty surroundings. Checked in 3:30pm. Told that the restaurant was fully booked. We were looking forward to a ribeye steak and now only left with the choice of the bar menu. We booked a double standard and were put in a room in the stable block at the back of the hotel. Room ok clean but dated. Bathroom clean. There was an iron and board and a fan a safe and a fridge. NO tea/coffee making facility’s NO free bottle of water as stated on Expedia website. and the telephone only worked one way if someone called you so if you needed anything we had to walk out the building and round to the front reception in the rain. The reception did call us and say there was a slot at 7:15pm for the restaurant- went off to double check came back and said oh no sorry that actually it isn’t available Eh! We ended up ordering a delivery from dominoes which the staff were fine about as long as we ate it in our room. The spa- looks dated ripped pool cover looks tatty one of the steps into the pool closed off as broken. The jacuzzi was far too hot. I got out and felt dizzy. Griddle broken at side of jacuzzi. Bed was uncomfortable and you could feel the outlines of the springs. We woke at 3am and left at 5am. We won’t be returning.

Lovely hotel, comfortable rooms and staff all very nice. However poor experience in Oak Restaurant, our meal was booked for 8:15 and we weren’t served for 50mins plus . I understand that there may be some delays but the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. After the meal we were asked would we like to see a desert menu but then we were completely ignored for a further 20mins despite serving staff walking past us on numerous occasions. By the time we were eventually acknowledged it was just too late for us. The food itself was nice but the dining experience just not up to scratch. The waiter did apologise when we mentioned it but it was a shame the service wasn’t better.
