I arrived at about 12.30 and was met by a guy at the Front Desk busy on the phone knowing I was waiting and another lady inside twiddling her thumbs and also watching me waiting. The guy finally checks my passport and says there is no reservation in this name. I pull out my reservation number and it appears in the system by magic under the same name! When I question this, it is all downhill from there. The guy says our check-in time is 2PM and there is no available right now. The hotel has less than 50% occupancy, I have requested an early check in as a Gold member and he says, sorry no room. He goes on to say, " I dont care if you are Gold member." I ask to see the manager and I am told he is not available (typical retort at Front Desk upon asking for a manager). By this time, the lady behind has awakened and come out. She offers to intervene, and by magic a room appears! I again ask to speak with the manager and get the same response. I ask that he should call me when he is back. After 5 days (I am checking out today), I am still waiting for his call. The lobby is swarming with taxi drivers sipping free coffee from the restaurant and hustling for fares. They are hand in league with the front desk staff who direct the guests to one of the drivers instead of the cheaper taxis on the street outside. My Otaxi app drivers would be harassed if they come to pick me up in the hotel. The lighting in the room (212) is terrible. One cannot read or do any work. Even by the low Ibis standards, breakfast is pathetic, being almost inedible except for the fresh fruits, thanks to the Kerala chef in charge. The location is dusty with broken pavements and roads.

Muscat is a place of magic and comfort. Well the experience of my stay in Ibis was great. Starting for the guy in reception was greeting with smile and the Indian lady processed the check in quickly and informed the whereabouts as I had queries for the food and market - Short stay but great. The rooms were small but accommodating 2 people. But need to improve the quality for breakfast. Ken was really helpful and made my day by clicking pictures of me and my husband. Thank u IBIS. Would definitely recommend my friends and family to stay here.

I had an excellent stay at the Ibis Hotel! The staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, always ready to assist with a smile. The room was modern, clean, and well-maintained, with a comfortable bed that ensured a great night’s sleep.
