This place is an oasis in Luxor. Outside the hotel, expect a town that is somewhat ran down and hustlers. Inside, expect beautiful surroundings and a devotion for impecable service. Food is excellent, rooms are spacey, outside noise is minimal, all is clean and, overall, value for what you pay is on par if not higher. It is true, however, that the hotel could be modernized a little bit, but it might lose its old world fair that is part of the charm. Make sure you bring your swimming suit. The pool is something you will thoroughly enjoy.

This is an old grande dame. It is elegant and has a long history, formerly a palace. We had a room facing the Nile with a balcony, which was lovely. The bathroom was not good for my husband, who is 83 with some mobility limitations. There were no handles on the wall to get in and out of the shower, which was located above a wonderfully deep soaking tub. The marble floors were slippery. Perhaps ask for a handicap accessible room if you have concerns. The grounds were gorgeous as was the huge pool, which was heated to somewhere between 85-90 degrees. Breakfast was very nice and very elegant. Beware drinks in the bar are very, very pricey! Only Egyptian wines available and imported spirits - a martini was 40 USD!
