Boracay at the Movenpick! The very best!!

트립어드바이저 평점 5.0/5

The Movenpick. Perhaps the best value in beautiful Boracay. Get your room with the breakfast brunch buffet - it’s not to be missed. See if you can seek out Oli. She provided us with superior table service at breakfast. Always with a smile, very friendly, super helpful! Come for the service, the breakfast, the clean, well-appointed rooms, the massive pool, and stay for the stunning sunsets. Spectacular!!

Good but not great, and here's why

Let me start by saying staff is friendly and you should tip them throughout your stay. They have the best attitude and are working hard to please despite the difficult battle they face. I will explain that part later but I just wanted to start by saying the staff is fantastic. Big shout out to Lin, Aliyah, Kim, And all the others whose names I can't recall. Again, tip them a hundred or two hundred pesos once in awhile... It means a lot to them. This resort is good, but several things are holding it back from being great. Rooms: Clean and relatively modern. The bed is fantastic, loved the mattress and pillows. Meanwhile, the shower looks nice but the water is rarely more than warm. In my week there I never had one hot shower. Also we were never given more than one roll of toilet paper at a time, which for two people isn't really enough for 24 hours. We could have also done with more towels, but I never asked for more, so that may be my fault. Make sure you leave any towels that you want replaced on the floor or else they will assume you want to continue using them. Restaurants: The food here is very good, in my opinion. There is a huge breakfast buffet which you will want to get to early due to the massive amounts of people who come in toward the end at 10: 30am. I only realized bananas existed in the restaurant the last day when we had to get up early and were at breakfast by 7:00 a.m. everything runs out at some point and it seems that the staff is so overwhelmed that replacing some items never happens. A great example is the small dish of butter they leave out. It empties out very quickly and takes a long time to be replaced. There is an egg station which is also overwhelmed, expect at least 15 minutes for your order to be prepared. There's an Italian restaurant and a sushi restaurant as well which are both very good. I also like the fact that if you want something from any of the other restaurants menus, they will make it for you no matter where you're sitting. The bar There's a very nice bar by the beach. Unfortunately. drinks take forever. We got into the habit of ordering two at a time. Once they arrive, the drinks are great. The beach This is one of my biggest complaints. For some reason this resort has decided to opt for these loungers that do not fold down. They are always in a slightly raised laying position, so laying on your stomach is virtually impossible. You're only option if you want a 10 or back will be to grab a mat and throw a towel on it and lay in the sand. It's a bizarre choice. Almost as bizarre as the chairs they have around the pool, which aren't even that nice. These are also immovable objects that have you in in and upright seated position and usually include a footstool. Both are extremely annoying, almost as much as the lack of them. There are not nearly enough loungers for the guests. Ultimately people end up breaking the rules and getting up very early to put a towel down to reserve it and then leave. And I can't blame them. The lifeguards do their best to try to find you a spot, but again, it's a losing battle sometimes. The fit center This is a bit of an afterthought and probably just a requirement to get that five star rating. Expect a rack of dumbbells, a few cardio machines, and a couple of weight machines, one of which was out of service when I was there. One of the days. There is a yoga room with mats and a few kettlebells. Transportation For 300 pesos you can get a TukTuk to take you into town, D Mall being the main attraction. The drivers are professional and get you where you want to go, highly recommended. It'll cost you another 300 to get back, and they only accept cash in my experience. Conclusion I got the sense that the staff was overwhelmed due to the fact that the resort was allowing non-guests to enter. I realize the place needs to turn profit, but allowing too many outsiders in really infringes on the experience of your paying guests. Everything is a rat race and a competition, whether it's for butter or loungers or drinks. If you're on vacation, you don't want to have that kind of stress and disappointment. A lesson can be learned from next door at the Shangri-La, as I tried to make reservations there and they told me they weren't taking any from outside guests right now due to capacity. Be better, Mövenpick. Your guests and staff deserve it.

I had an absolutely amazing time in Movenpick. I was introduced to Mark Morales, one of the entertainers there and his hospitality and genuine passion for serving others made this a memory I will never forget. He ensure I was always looked after by the staff and provided me what felt like a VIP experience. I cannot fault the service and hospitality.

Rubbish

I was not overly impressed with our stay here. I have stayed in 5 star resorts before and this just did not match up. I emailed the hotel my complaints privately as I did not want to publicly post my disappointing review, however after emailing whilst I was still at the hotel on 2nd January, I have still not heard a response (10th January), so am now posting publicly. This delay in response I feel reflects the standard of the hotel in general. Breakfast: Service was slow; there were no fried eggs at the egg station so I placed an order for one - it took approximately 15 minutes to receive, arriving after the rest of the meal was finished. The fruit was covered in fruit flies. Coffee service was also slow despite the restaurant being quiet. Pastries and bacon were good. Amenities: Sun loungers at both the pool and beach are non-adjustable and uncomfortable. There are limited loungers around the pool, with few umbrellas available. WiFi does not extend to the beach area. Rooms: The TV remote malfunctioned, continuously scrolling through channels unless the batteries were removed. The room’s electricity was unstable, with lights and air conditioning frequently cutting in and out. Shower water pressure is extremely poor and is only semi powerful if you have it on cold setting. Room was cleaned but towels not replaced - a note was left apologising saying they will bring them later but this never happened. Shower gel not replaced and was empty after room service. Difficult to get hold of reception from the room The beds are comfy The former 2 issues were fixed promptly by staff when I told them at reception which I was grateful for. General: Airport transfers are expensive. The shuttle service runs infrequently (every few hours) has inconvenient timings, and limited capacity, often becoming fully booked. Overall, the hotel feels very run-down and in need of refurbishment. Sewage smells when walking around the hotel but this was only occasionally Tuk-tuks are available - to Station 2 it is 300 php Dirty beach towels both days (appeared as though they are stained with something like fake tan) Service was also slow at the sol marina beach club Cannot get a drink anywhere in the hotel after 9:30pm as no bars were open. Pool bar was not open despite this being advertised as a service Location and private beach are beautiful Staff are very friendly While I am not usually one to complain and understand that minor issues can occur, the accumulation of these problems was disappointing—particularly when compared to other five-star hotels. The experience did not reflect a five-star standard or provide a smooth, comfortable stay. The highlight was the complimentary upgrade from a land transfer to a boat transfer from the airport, which was a thoughtful touch. Unfortunately, this positive first impression was not sustained upon arrival at the hotel

Amazing stay!
