The setting of the hotel is really amazing! Golf course and mountains right around. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Rooms are Beautifull and big. Food at the clubhouse and Back’s is delicious. Peter at Reception is phenomenal!!! Wow, such a great man and so helpful and friendly.

We stayed at Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis for 2 nights during our South Africa trip. Our goal was to enjoy the Franschoek Wine Tram and exploring the wine region in our rental car. One of the factors that helped us decide on the hotel was the Accor All program that the hotel is part of. This is an interesting hotel since it is placed inside a luxurious golf estate where people also have their investment properties. The hotel owns a number of buildings inside this estate and the rooms are amazing – they are large and have every necessity that you would look for in a 1-bed or studio flat. Our particular room had a huge balcony overlooking the lake inside the estate and we had some of the most amazing sunsets and star gazing experiences from our balcony, together with the cute owl family who lived on our ceiling :) You felt luxury due to the golf resort nature of the hotel as soon as you checked in. There was a nice pool and good restaurants that are part of the golf club that you can use. Due to the region, the wine is amazing at the bar and we had good food too – while the service was a bit on the slow side for the dinner. Overall, we particularly liked the hotel for its rooms and friendly service while experiencing the luxury of a golf estate. Apart from a number of minor areas of improvement, I would totally recommend this hotel for future stays in the area. Some details on the particulars: Welcome: We had a beach day and drove our rental car to the hotel, arriving at around 7 p.m. We were welcomed with a very friendly reception staff, while we were not dressed up for the occasion since the reception was part of the golf club and we had to get inside with our swimming shorts and tshirt with plenty of sand on us :) Still, the staff quickly and efficiently checked us in. Initially, they didn’t remember to provide a welcome drink due to Accor All Silver status, but later on, they sent us a drink voucher to our room. Location: The hotel is right between Paarl and Franschoek. Stellenbosch is also very close — all these cities being 15-20 minute drive away if you have a rental car. We were there for the wine tram (orange line) and the Groot-Drakenstein Terminal of Franschhoek Wine Tram is actually very very close (a 10 minutes drive away). Considering these, we found the location convenient if you have a rental car, but if you don’t, the hotel provides very expensive transfer options and that seems to be the only choice. Rooms: The rooms extremely comfortable and quite large. We stayed in a 1 bedroom and the room had all the necessities. It felt like home away from home. Adding the amazing lake view from our balcony, we didn’t want to leave our room at the end. The bathroom products are all good quality and the staff even left some bath salt for our bathing experience. The bed was large and comfortable and the aircon was working silently as we wanted. The plug type was a bit different from the rest of the hotels that we have stayed and we struggled to charge our phones a bit. I would recommend the hotel to change their plugs to support usb charging and using the standard EU plugs if possible (or at least some converters in the rooms). Meals: The hotel offers two restaurants, one near the pool and the other in the golf estate. We had our welcome drinks at the bar of the golf estate and it was a wonderful and large glass of wine that we enjoyed to the fullest. The dinner experience on our second night was a bit slow and it took about 1 hour to get our steak order, however, it was nice and tasty after all. For breakfast, we didn’t prebook a breakfast included package but the restaurant has a nice menu of alacarte options and it was an enjoyable breakfast. Pools and spa: While the pool was just outside of our hotel room, unfortunately, we didn’t have a change to enjoy it. We noticed that the hotel provides pool towels so you don’t need to worry about that if you are planning to use the pool. Similarly, we didn’t have a chance to use the spa but the reception made sure that we are aware that we can use the spa as we wish. Experiences: The hotel is very golf oriented and they expect / tailor the experiences around golf. There was little or no support for people like us who wanted a wine experience with the Franschoek tram. They offered us a 40£ transfer for a 10 minute distance (which we considered taking) but as a result of the huge cost, we decided that one of us can be the designated driver and not drink the wine during a wine tour. If the hotel offered better and more affordable transfer options (e.g., by arranging a shuttle to the tram and organizing group activities), we would have enjoyed the tram tour more. Staff: All the staff were extremely helpful and they always approached you with a huge smile. They make you feel welcome and do their best to make your holiday a memorable one. Overall, we will recommend this hotel if you are arriving on a car and you are into golf. You feel a bit out of place if you have no interest in golf since the whole estate is evolved around this.

An initial problem with our booking was quickly and professionally resolved by Gail in reservations. The room was excellent with mountain views. The restaurant food was very good. In a good location for exploring the Cape winelands.

There is a main building and then many villas. Luckily when you call for a shuttle they are very quick. The room was quite nice and large. It had a kitchen with a mini fridge and stove (no microwave). Wifi was very good. We were very close to Backs the small restaurant/deli by the pool. The staff in Backs were the most accommodating and friendly I have ever experienced. The food in the deli was not overpriced which was surprising, in fact it was shockingly inexpensive. On our last night we informed the lady’s we didn’t have time for breakfast the next day as we had an early drive and they brought us two to go bags filled with fruit and yogurt and some goodies for our drive. Such amazing service! The restaurant at the main hotel was good. Food was good, servers were friendly. My only negative would be if you are playing golf plan on at least an hour and a quarter for breakfast. The service in the morning is brutally slow. The golf course course was very good. It is in great condition and very playable.

We stayed here for 3 nights, great location, with several restaurants, golf, spa, winery, polo club, plus it’s very safe and secure to walk around. Rooms are spacious, well equipped, great balcony, fridge and free on site parking. Staff all friendly and super helpful.
