The Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa is set inside a beautiful country manor house, the building retains many of its original features, including turrets and porticos. Set amongst the iconic Lancashire countryside with its own extensive landscaped grounds, the Dunkenhalgh Hotel is perfect for a relaxing break. The spa offers a full range of professional treatments, an impressive heated indoor pool (charges & children's swim times apply) and gym. The hotel was partially refurbished in 2020.

The countryside of the Blackburn area surrounds this hotel. Guests looking to unwind in tranquil natural surroundings can enjoy a visit to the outstandingly beautiful Trough of Bowland, which is located just 20 miles away from the hotel. This hotel boasts luxurious, traditional décor throughout, making it a great location for any wedding reception or special event. The banquet hall can accommodate up to 300 guests who can enjoy use of the hotel's excellent facilities during their visit.

Set in 17 acres of glorious parkland, this 4-star hotel is in a 700-year-old building with restored original features. A number of tourist attractions are in easy reach including the Trafford Centre, Chester Zoo and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Tired & basic, no longer a destination hotel.

20 years ago we were visiting friends in the area and they highly recommended the restaurant here. We were so impressed we asked for a tour and ended up booking our wedding, despite not being from the area. We loved the food, were impressed by the building, and the staff were great. We have returned several times over the years and recommend it, especially to overseas visitors. But today, the hotel is a mere shadow of its former self. Tatty, unkempt and very, very basic , in need of a deep clean and no longer a destination hotel. Our room smelt strongly of damp as did our bedding, the restaurant is beyond basic, with half the choices not even available. We bought our kids for the 1st time to celebrate our anniversary and to enjoy the spa, we didn't stay more the 30min in the pool as other guests came straight in from the carpark, outdoor footwear and clothing, jumped in the pool, while others bathed their feet (no showering, no changing ) leaving debris in the pool. We had a spa treatment that was lovely, the staff are all very accommodating and friendly, large rooms, good car park, but this grand beautiful building is being let down. It has been somewhere very special and could be again, but we will not be recommending it or returning sadly unless things change , it's just no longer for us.

I'm hugely disappointed. Room is quite basic and not luxury, which I would have expected. Order some starters and sides off rhe room service, I had to wait 90 minutes to be told they didn't have some of the order in stock to cook. I only found out when I rang to chase the food. No food menu in the room and I could not find online. I had to send an WhatsApp message to reception so they could send me the menu. Just not very customer friendly. I am glad I am staying here on business as I would NOT come here for a relaxing spa break!
