This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel stay. My wife, infant daughter and I arrived (with admittedly humble expectations) to what we thought would be a family-friendly hotel. When we arrived we were told that the cot we had organised earlier, couldn’t be provided because it would be a fire evacuation hazard. Instead the receptionist suggested that our infant sleep on the floor. This was as she hurriedly sprayed insects that were climbing up her desk. Despite this, we settled-in, going to our room through the waft of marijuana smoke in the communal hallways of the “100% smoke free” hotel. Once dropping our bags at our room we thought about dinner. After quick trip to Woolworths, we returned to our room which was entirely devoid of any cutlery except a singular tea spoon. We walked down to the communal kitchen, to find it locked. When I queried this with the receptionist I was told, “Nah we don’t do cutlery”. So my entire family ate dinner with a singular tea-spoon. Also, the window facing a busy main road didn’t close and there are signs advertising $1700 fines to anyone who triggers a fire alarm by showering with the ensuite door open. All together, this place is a disaster and I wouldn’t stay here again even if it were free. 0/5 stars

I’d rather book a night in a jail cell. The room is decrepid The bathroom is disgusting and smells strongly of bleach The door frames are rusted out. The shower curtain is horrible Yes, this is budget accommodation but compared to other Ibis hotels we have stayed in, this is by far the worst It’s a shame that Accor have put their trusted name on this one, they should review

Below is the e-mail we sent the hotel - no real response Dear sirs, I, together with my family, have just checked in at IBIS Coff Harbour. This is a chock and NOT what we expected. Your receptionist, Xxxx (refused to give family name) was rude from the moment we entered the reception. My wife asked to check in and she shouted back at her from the start. When I entered the reception, after parking the car, she continued. When I asked a clarifying question she continued shouting after us as we were leaving the reception. She gave us a room that I question the cleaning. It is smelly from no ventilation and dirty carpets. The air condition does not work. There are cockroaches in the room. Please see attached picture. If it was not that we have a 9yo with us and just finished a 6 hour drive, I would leave immediately. I will not pay for this booking and want a feedback from management confirming this. Moreover, I also want a feedback on what you intend to do before we go public on our social media channels with our experience at your hotel. We have bookings with ibis in Sydney tomorrow. Is this what we should expect? I wait your urgent feedback by tomorrow morning.

Si vais haciendo la Ruta por el este, cogería otro destino, (Woolgoolga, corindi, red rock, que quedan relativamente cerca). El hotel ibis está muy apartado de todo. Tiene parking gratis y piscina. No tiene ascensor. Tiene aire acondicionado. No tiene secador. Creo que tiene wifi pero la chica no nos la dió, quizás se le olvidó. Tiene para hacer te o café. La habitación bastante justa, pero limpia. Si volviese a coffs cogería otro hotel algo más cerca de la playa.
