John R TripAdvisor review

The hotel is centrally located and it is easy to walk to local attractions and restaurants. There is an underground car park with direct lift access to the Reception Foyer which is very handy, although the car park it self is a little cramped and rather tortuous to navigate. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and the small criticisms I have do not reflect on them at all. The room was a good size with en-suite Shower and toilet, TV, Iron and ironing board, hair dryer and tea & coffee making equipment. The bed was very wide, which was ideal, but seemed to be two beds joined together. This would not normally be a problem but in this case the two mattresses were different thicknesses so there was a pronounced step from one side to the other. This made sleeping a little uncomfortable. The lift from the Foyer to the rooms above was OK but in the one that most often came when called, the illuminated screen showing which floor we were on was not working, and the recorded voice worked intermittently. On one occasion, after coming back from a long day of walking, we found the key card to our room would not work. On returning to the Reception desk we were told this happens all the time and the cards can be adversely affected by mobile phones. I could not help thinking that if this is the case, then the problem should have been rectified or at the very least, guests should be warned about this when they check-in. The most disappointing part of our stay was breakfast on the 2nd and 3rd days of our stay. The first day was fine with just the exception that there was no orange juice. A sign of the dispensing machine said 'Out of Stock'. The same sign was there for the next two days and we wondered why a jug, or even a carton of orange juice could have been arranged. On the 2nd morning we found that at the buffet there was no bacon, no sausages, no hash browns and no eggs. There had been plenty the previous day. I mentioned this to a member of staff who went away and a short time later returned with some bacon. It was a long time after this that a few sausages arrived but no has browns and no eggs. The 3rd day was the same although eventually some extremely hard hash browns arrived. The stay overall was good and we would use this hotel again but these small things did rather detract from an otherwise nice stay. One would hope they can be remedied easily.

Another stay at the Ibis when attending a concert at Symphony Hall . Handy for the venue and also within easy reach of city centre and Mailbox. On site parking.

Excellent location with everywhere within walking distance. We had hotel booked for nearly a year so was disapointing that they did not make the bed up for the kids before we got to the room. We spoke to reception and they asked if we could move rooms? Eventually someone came up and made the bed up & gave us extra towels. Other than that good with average breakfast.
