Good stay near Valence TGV station

I accidentally got onto TGV train to Paris. As Valence is the only stop before Paris, I decided to get off at Valence TGV station. As it was very late and there was no more train back home, I needed a hotel to stay overnight. Luckily, Ibis was nearby. I walked into the lobby and asked for a room. The young woman at the front desk is very kind. The room is clean, nice, and quiet. It’s not very fancy but very good for short stay. Breakfast in the morning was very good with a lot of choices. Ibis is the only hotel near Valence TGV station. I am very glad as I probably have to sleep in the station if they are not there.

Hotel is good, as usual, but I had made a reservation with a card. That card, apparently was not valid according to the hotel requirements. However, I did not know that and the hotel did not tell me when I made the reservation. Going to the hotel, I stopped because of a traffic jam and I found an email from the hotel saying that reservation would be cancel at 20:00 if I did not confirm it with another card or by giving them an estimated hour of arrival. I was really lucky when I stop and check mail. Otherwise, because of traffic jam, could have missed my reservation. To be honest, I do not find that a right way to procedure. And it was, I think, the sixth time I go to this hotel.

We have choosen this hotel for its excellent position. Coming from Belgium, you drive some additional kilometers, but you avoid bottlenecks such as Lyon, Vienne, etc. The hotel itself is perfect: friendly people, good quality rooms, very nice breakfast (special applause for the people that where replenishing the buffet, they did a fantastic job). Only inconvenience is that the hotel has only one elevator and when cleaning services have to get on the floors for cleaning the rooms, it is almost impossible to catch an elevator. All in all, a great value for money.
