A good hotel, an enjoyable stay...but room for improvement!

We stayed at Raffles Hotel on Praslin 8 years ago so it was nice to return and we enjoyed our 8 day stay. The hotel is in a stunning position, the rooms are built up the hillside with magnificent views. However, the rooms are a bit tired, while the rooms are still nice some refreshment is required (mould is on the tiles beneath both of the bathroom taps). The refurbishments and building works are annoying, a bit of an inconvenience. The pools and beach area are lovely. The food is lovely, but the service at breakfast was very inconsistent. The worst part of our stay was our butler who was absolutely and completely hopeless!! Sorry, but we gave up with Mahmoud who was useless, and we spoke to Laura who was brilliant...thank you Laura. The buggy service was inconsistent. I had 2 superb massages. Servicing of our room was inconsistent, one afternoon we returned at 4.00pm and our room had not been touched so we phoned, someone came immediately, but just made the bed and changed the towels. In our opinion the hotel management needs to have better control of organisation in the hotel, there are too many things that need improvement, standards have dropped which is down to the manager. But we still enjoyed our stay, the Seychelles are stunningly beautiful.
