We had an amazing time at SO! The breakfast buffet and Hadaba restaurant offered excellent food, and the room and overall resort were exceptional. Anna, our GEM, went above and beyond to make our stay truly enjoyable. We would love to come back.

Beautiful resort but disgustingly overpriced, boring, bland food, sub-par guest service/ experience.

This would mainly be a warning for Aussies as we are fortunate enough to live mostly on the coast, with the Great Barrier Reef our standard for a true marine experience. We were sorely disappointed by our experience at this resort. I will have to dot-point everything to save readers from having to read through paragraphs. For a '5-star resort' this place has the atmosphere and overall service of a 3-star resort. We had booked a 5-night stay and left after 2, if the below doesn't phase you much then you may enjoy this place. 1. Absolute money grab—we knew the Maldives would be an expensive trip, but not $300 AUD to rent a jet ski for 15 minutes, lol. We are no strangers to luxe travel, but the prices these guys charge to enjoy your stay are out of this world. Not to mention the way the staff constantly remind you of extra fees and taxes if you even dare look in the wrong direction. 2. No local tours are allowed to collect you (they charge 1/4 of the price and take you on half a day's trip) I do understand this rule however, if you plan to return to Male as at your own request, be prepared for the near-flight fare you will have to fork out despite the frequency the resort travels to and from per day. Essentially you are trapped. 3. Vibe of the place is sooooo off. I can't explain it coherently in words, but it is just off and eerily quiet. Pretty boring, with nothing to do during the day or night (keep in mind you're on island time as well)- there is far more happening at Crossroads which is the neighboring cluster of resorts. 4. Food is extremely bland and underwhelming (see photo attached of a supposed marble-scored steak medium rare...). The breakfast buffet is underwhelming as well. 5. Teeny tiny man-made island- the island will take you about 4 minutes to explore on your bikes and you'd hope it doesn't rain overnight as the concrete slab underneath all the 'sand' becomes exposed. When I asked where the best spots to snorkel off the island were, I was told there was not much to see as the island is man-made. Boy was he right, there's dead coral for ages until you hit somewhat of a reef but by the time you reach that, it is far too shallow to continue your adventure no matter how high the tide. 6. The cherry on top was on our last night, we hadn't drunk the complimentary wine gifted to us upon arrival (we were waiting for the right moment. fail.) When asked if we could please enjoy it with our last dinner before we headed back to the airport- the restaurant manager said no. Absolutlely hilarious!! That is not 5-star service at all. I resorted to drinking it on the buggy on the way to the dock. Our butler was fantastic and there was a particular staff member at the bar who was lovely, but overall would not recommend staying here.

You'll have access to everything you need to enjoy your vacation within just 20 minutes from airport. I appreciated the ease and speed at which I could get to the resort from the airport. The resort has so much to offer - excellent restaurants offering an excellent variety of foods to suit any palate, well-stocked bars, a luxurious spa and an exceptional water sport area. There's even a playground it you're bring your family along. The service is on par with resorts I've stayed at with twice the price.

SO/ Maldives offers a spectacular stay. We enjoyed a 3-night stay there. It's very near the airport(20 minutes speedboat transfer). We stayed in an ocean villa, and it was very clean. However, this beautiful place is missing a good chef. The food is awful; mostly pickles, salad, and fruit are on the buffet. The waiters at the restaurant mostly look unhappy. I must point out that the guest arrival host, Mr. Mohamed Ashraf, who assisted us with our arrival and departure, is a very nice person who always displays a kind smile.

We really enjoyed the whole time. The hotel is perfect and the staff is very friendly. The food in the hotel is excellent, the breakfast delighted us. I especially want to praise our butler, the waiter from Morocco and the waitress from Indonesia. The facilities in the hotel are excellent
