Dated room, shower over bath. plastic cups in room, tea tasted awful. Asked at reception for ceramic told not allowed. It just felt like this hotel is run down and ready to be demolished. Not the normal Mercure standard

I find the bed very comfortable and it was great having windows that open to allow air flow. The breakfast was also really good. The rooms do seem a bit dated though, there were a lot of little patches on the wall or in the bathroom grout.

I travelled with my husband who is severely medically disabled. Staff allowed me a very convenient car park for the duration of our stay. The beautiful receptionist named “Aria” helped me with the luggage and organised for the most appropriate of meals. The room was quiet, clean and well maintained and easily accessible. The chef was most obliging and accommodating, in providing a dish not available on the menu for my husband who has swallowing issues. On departure the receptionists greatly assisted with the handling of luggage from room to car and packing the car. Once again Aria and her female colleague were a wonderful and outstanding representatives of your organisation. I have been an Accor member for 20 years and found this service memorable. Well done Mercure Newcastle!

Never had much of an issue with Accor until now. Coffee in room was not very good and didn’t get my usual voucher as an All Accor member which I always get at Port Macquarie and Sofitel Gold Coast

Came up for work great hotel. Was given accessible room bathroom, shower is open and has no privacy from toilet, so only 1 person at time can use, and if you have a double bed room it’s joined with 2 single beds and you’ll fall in between beds, and sheets on bed come off, as they aren’t tucked in properly, a fitted sheet would be better

Mercure Newcastle - don’t do it!! We recently stayed 3 nights and I was very very disappointed in the room. They are in desperate need of a refurb. On entry the room had a bad odour that didn’t go away.Bathroom was incredibly tired with toilet roll holder broken and tap constantly dripping in the bath/shower. Paint peeling, dust in air vents, carpet dark & out of the 80’s.. just a very very old room. The location is opposite a night club and on a main road so there was noise at all hours. No upgrade (but I never “expect” an upgrade). There was a large cockroach in the hallway that was there for 2 days (if we saw it surely the cleaners did). At breakfast there was a group of guests stuck in one of the 2 lifts for over 40 mins (lucky they were young & saw the funny side because I wouldn’t have). On a positive note our gift was a bottle of wine and packet of chips which was lovely and the staff were very very friendly - breakfast was standard but decent. I don’t often give bad reviews (if ever) but just thought I’d give the heads up to others because it isn’t a cheap hotel to stay at (or it wasn’t the weekend we went).

The team here were lovely and looked after us. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable, however the lack of anywhere to hang bath towels was unusual, and the lifts were noisy and a seemingly a bit unreliable (breaking down one day). Overall pretty good though, I'd stay there again.

Disappointed that the car park did not accommodate guests despite ‘car parking’ onsite advertised both on the web and at the hotel. Walking in the dark in the area where ‘parking’ was suggested did not feel safe at all. The hallways and lifts need updating. They looked shabby and unclean.

Good location and staff were friendly. But rooms esp bathrooms run down and cutlery in our room was dirty. Bathroom flooded when we emptied the tub and someone had switched the hot and cold label on the bath taps and we were just lucky to discover it before our child got burnt.

The room was as expected. Service was fine, but the food was abysmal. The chicken “parmi” was dry, overcooked, and the supposed parmi topping consisted of a dry piece of ham and a smattering of cheese on top. No Napoli sauce, no cheesiness, just a dry old schnitzel with a nod towards being a parmi. For the price charged, I expected better than your average parmi.

Was not a great experience, kids were trying to break into cars, then broke into the building next door, was awake for hours with bashing noises, police were no help and completely missed seeing the kids still on the roof. Could not access the reception area from the back of the car park and it was raining so was quite inconvenient when trying to get suit cases from the carpark to the hotel. The only thing great about the hotel were the staff and Food.
