Perfect for St Geroge's Park but noisy outside

Customer review rating 3.5/5

Gareth S. Business - 02/10/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

This hotel is basic but exactly what is required for an overnight stay and the staff were polite and helpful. The location is perfect for St George's Park and it is easy to find. The car park is a problem though and I witnessed 3 drug deals taking place around midnight and then had to listen to another group of youths talking loudly and kicking cans around until 3am which ruined my nights sleep. This is probably outside the hotels control but you may be able to request a room not overlooking the car park and have a better nights sleep.

great price and adaequate overall

for me when travelling the most important thing is the price of the hotel. a certain amount can be overlooked if the price is right and thats something the ibis budget got right on my stay. unfortunately there were however some things that were sub-par. the main light in our room flickered whenever it was turned on. thankfully there were other lights in the room bright enough to light up the room well enough. another problem with my room was that the shower base seemed to have come away from the tiles. upon reporting these issues to the reception we were offered another room but decided that since we had already unpacked and settled in that we were happy to put up with the issues. otherwise the hotel was in a good location and was good enough for a short stay.

I booked a 2 night stay through the Accor website, as I have done for many years but this was to be my first stay at this hotel. Upon arrival the receptionist, Donna, was not able to find my booking even though I gave her a printed copy of my confirmation, which had been booked and paid for 2 weeks earlier. After numerous phone calls to colleagues and 30 minutes waiting she managed to allocate us a room which was a family room, clean and quiet. Whilst we were patiently waiting in reception other people who had booked through 3rd party websites were checked in with no problem. On departure another receptionist asked if we had enjoyed our stay to which I replied 'it would have been nice if we had a room booked when we arrived'. This receptionist then seemed to jump down my throat, immediately went on the defensive and denied any responsibility for the problem, she then said that she had passed the details on to head office. Rather than antagonise the situation she could have just apologised for the problem and say the she had passed the details on to head office. Her reaction has seriously made me think again about booking any Accor hotels as I cannot be sure that my room would actually be booked. The reception team is the image of the company and this 2nd receptionist did not do the company any favours, I would like to thank Donna for persevering in finding us a room as she had not been in this situation before.

Nice hotel with great facilities and friendly staff. Asked for room with railway view although we couldn’t see anything from our room as we were over looking the grain hopper and the area was blocked off.

Was easy to find and good sleep

Quick stay for one night, it was clean and cheap too. Only bad point was one staff member, when we arrived, the sign says free parking for Ibis guests. We was told "You need to go and pay or you get a ticket" He was a bit abrupt & rude, however he may have been tired as we did arrive late Overall though, the hotel did exactly what it said on the tin

Excellent staff and very well located

Have stayed here before when it was a travelodge, so was aware that there is a lot of noise from trains day & night, took earplugs this time so no problem. Staff we met were all lovely and friendly. Rooms are tired but very clean.

Located close to the station and Town Hall and in walking distance of most of the town centre. Car park was noticiably emptier this year so for a change easy to find a car park space. Room was clean and hygienic if a little sparse - there were even less storage space than when it was a Travelodge.

Pleasant stay. Only downside was the cleaners laughing and talking loudly to each other in the morning.

Room 101!

Customer review rating 1.5/5

Andy Couples - 21/09/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

Room 101 is the first room on the first floor and you can hear the adjacent fire door close evéry time someone passes. Unfortunately you can also hear the one above on the second floor and the one below on the ground floor! The laundry room is behind the bed in the next room and when the machine is on spin the wall heater and bed vibrate! Some well positioned tissue sorted the heater out but the bed was beyond me! Overall woke tired and this affected our stay.

Great location, clean large rooms and amazing value

Located 5 minute walk from the centre but perfect if you're visiting the town hall, lovely old mill building with really big basic but clean rooms and such great value for money.

Bit dissapointed with the family room, single bed wasn't a bed more than a bench, it took my child a good hour to settle on it, I'd it was down to me and we weren't booked in for my sisters wedding I would not have stayed. Do handle on the bath room was hanging off the door so no real privacy when using the bathroom. Overall not a great experience and will probably not use or recommend.

Booked the Ibis as a place to stay whilst attending a wedding, and for the price we were pleasantly surprised! Spacious airy room, ideally situated near transport and a big car park, and all within walking distance to the town centre and points of interest.

Large rooms with lovely beds. En-suite shower room is a bit small - but it does the job.

I had experienced prior issues with Accor customer service so was somewhat apprehensive, but found the staff friendly and helpful and the room clean and spacious and fairly quiet at night (front of hotel). We paid extra for breakfast, which was fine, though the breakfast room had no windows. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a budget stay in Burton, plus has the added bonus of being in a heritage building.
