Perfect for St Geroge's Park but noisy outside

This hotel is basic but exactly what is required for an overnight stay and the staff were polite and helpful. The location is perfect for St George's Park and it is easy to find. The car park is a problem though and I witnessed 3 drug deals taking place around midnight and then had to listen to another group of youths talking loudly and kicking cans around until 3am which ruined my nights sleep. This is probably outside the hotels control but you may be able to request a room not overlooking the car park and have a better nights sleep.
great price and adaequate overall

for me when travelling the most important thing is the price of the hotel. a certain amount can be overlooked if the price is right and thats something the ibis budget got right on my stay. unfortunately there were however some things that were sub-par. the main light in our room flickered whenever it was turned on. thankfully there were other lights in the room bright enough to light up the room well enough. another problem with my room was that the shower base seemed to have come away from the tiles. upon reporting these issues to the reception we were offered another room but decided that since we had already unpacked and settled in that we were happy to put up with the issues. otherwise the hotel was in a good location and was good enough for a short stay.
No room booked on the system

I booked a 2 night stay through the Accor website, as I have done for many years but this was to be my first stay at this hotel. Upon arrival the receptionist, Donna, was not able to find my booking even though I gave her a printed copy of my confirmation, which had been booked and paid for 2 weeks earlier. After numerous phone calls to colleagues and 30 minutes waiting she managed to allocate us a room which was a family room, clean and quiet. Whilst we were patiently waiting in reception other people who had booked through 3rd party websites were checked in with no problem. On departure another receptionist asked if we had enjoyed our stay to which I replied 'it would have been nice if we had a room booked when we arrived'. This receptionist then seemed to jump down my throat, immediately went on the defensive and denied any responsibility for the problem, she then said that she had passed the details on to head office. Rather than antagonise the situation she could have just apologised for the problem and say the she had passed the details on to head office. Her reaction has seriously made me think again about booking any Accor hotels as I cannot be sure that my room would actually be booked. The reception team is the image of the company and this 2nd receptionist did not do the company any favours, I would like to thank Donna for persevering in finding us a room as she had not been in this situation before.
Decent for the price

Nice hotel with great facilities and friendly staff. Asked for room with railway view although we couldn’t see anything from our room as we were over looking the grain hopper and the area was blocked off.
