It was a nice hotel pretty standard nothing too spectacular about it. The room service was pretty quick but when requesting certain bathroom items we never received them and had to go down to reception. The room was nice. We got one of the larger rooms, but it definitely wasn’t. What was advertised in the photos.

Although we understand that emergency work is sometimes necessary, we were informed by email on the day before our visit that there would be no water in our room after 8.30. This was extremely inconvenient, disrupted the plans for our stay in Bedford and we do not feel that the recompense of free parking for the night adequately makes up for this. In addition, the shower cubicle had mold around the base which was most unsatisfactory. Also, for such a well known Hotel chain we were also very disappointed at how difficult it was to find information regarding your gluten free food options and how limited they were when we actually managed to find out. We therefore opted to eat elsewhere. I have stayed at numerous Mercure Hotels previously and feel that this one does not meet your usual standard.

While check-out time was at 12:00 noon, we had informed guests that the water supply would be stopped from 8:30am; however, in reality the interruption did not begin until approximately 10:00am. We fully understand that this situation was not ideal and may have disrupted your plans. Unfortunately, this was due to emergency works that required immediate action, and we had to proceed with the closure for the remaining hours prior to check-out. As a gesture of goodwill, we did our best to offer complimentary parking to affected guests. We are also very sorry to hear about the cleanliness concerns in your bathroom. This is certainly not reflective of the standards we aim to uphold, and we will address this with our housekeeping team to ensure improvements are made. Regarding the gluten-free options, we regret that the information was not easily accessible and that the available choices did not meet your expectations. Your feedback has been noted and will be reviewed with our food and beverage team to improve both communication and variety. It is disappointing to hear that your experience did not reflect the usual standards you have come to expect from Mercure hotels. We was pleasantly surprised with the decor of the room and hotel but the windows need work, first room 802 the windows were screwed shut but with gaps which made the room so noisy from wind and traffic and cold. We moved to 810 and the windows were the same here but due to being different side of building was quieter but had the sleep with earplugs. Bar was ill stocked and could not get the drinks we wanted to went elsewhere. Would stay again for the location but the window issue needs dealing with.

Myself and my friend both in our 50s were having a cup of tea before bed with the tv on in the background, at midnight there was a knock on the door followed by another knock which startled us, I looked through the spy hole asked who it was to be told we had a noise complaint! Apparently he was the duty manager, I don’t know if he had the wrong room as there was no way we were loud and the tv was on low but not a nice end to our day

Well located, but not enough light in the bedroom, corridors were narrow, no easy lift access to restaurant as I found difficulty climbing up the stairs with my stick. Evening meal was good and we were able to eat in the bar.
