the hotel is in a great location. we found it to be a pleasant stay even though when we checked in the room it was very cold (which we presume was due to covid, it was under occupied) and the shower water was always on the tepid side. we did have a word with reception and they did manage to get the room to heat up some but the radiators never came on which was a problem as housekeeping were not servicing rooms (again due to covid) and a hot radiator would have been helpful to dry the towels. after we had used the towels for 2 days we requested new ones and we also asked to have the bin emptied but it took 3 attempts and on the last attempt we had to go to reception and change them ourselves which was a bit annoying as this was the Only thing that we requested and when you have paid for a executive room you would have expected a little more. the breakfast would have been better if the hot food was a little fresher it was left standing for a while, you could have bounced the eggs as they were very well done even though breakfast was served christmas morning and not left on the buffet the eggs weren't freshly cooked and also the cold meat and cheese selection was very poor Overall we found the staff at the desk and in the restaurant and bar extremely friendly. we can not comment on house keeping as we didn't see sight nor sound of them during our stay. overall the hotel was in a great location but it could have been better.

The disappointing thing was that when we asked for things to be replenished in the room it wasn't sorted out, even though we asked twice. We were at the hotel for 2 nights and didn't mind that the room wasn't cleaned but did want fresh towels, more coffee and tea etc and more toilet rolls. There was a very casual attitude towards our requests which was irritating as we wanted to have a shower before going out, some coffee in the room and it didn't materialise. We asked again on our way out at about 6.00pm and still it wasn't sorted when we got back later that evening.

Overall satisfactory, slightly disappointed that the room service process was very hit and miss due to no phones being in the rooms? Having to use own mobile phone was a surprise when getting into the room. Room was slightly cold and with the hvac system right outside the room on the roof had a noise all night. Which I understand not much could be done about it.

I arrived at the hotel after a long journey, delayed due to Storm Arwen and roadworks. I was very, very cold and just wanted some hot food and a warm bed! However the first room I was given smelled very strongly of damp and so I had to ask to be moved. The person on reception was very nice and gave me a room upgrade. After I had unpacked, I went to the restaurant but I could not stay there as it was very cold and I would not have been able to enjoy my food in such an atmosphere. I had rom service in the end. The food sadly was not great, and I had to eat it under the covers as my room' was also cold, with no visible means of altering the temperature. I kept waking up during the night due to the temperature. Not a good experience...

I very regularly use Hotels and this hotel in particular. The hotel itself is a little tired in places and could do with some TLC and money spent on a refurb but in general is OK, rooms are OK and Beds are comfy. The main difference for me are that the staff are generally very good especially the ladies on Reception and Check in who are always very helpful.

Where do I start 1. Electrical socket fell out exposing live cables 2. Room wasn't cleaned over night 3. No room service menu 4. No phone to call reception 5. Mobile number given for room service was number unobtainable 6. Room service ordering process took over 10 minutes 7. Room service meal didn't arrive after promised 10-15 minutes, only when I chased at 45 minutes did it finally arrive, 1hr 20mins after I started the process Avoid

As with previous stays I had a very comfortable and enjoyable 2 nights at the MERCURE. As a health and safety professional, I was pleased to see the safety measures implemented to mitigate any Covid19 spread. I was not however pleased with some of the guests who still think it's all over and don't see the need to wear masks or socially distance. This unfortunately cannot be policed by hotel staff but I would suggest better signage at the entrance and within the reception area.
