The staff were without fault, very friendly! Some areas of the hotel need a bit of modernising, specifically the leisure facilities. We were also told that we had to book the pool area and that it would be restricted to 2 people at a time, however when we got in there a group of 6 people came in with a speaker playing music and taking up most of the pool so social distancing wasnt very possible and this meant that we left the pool area much earlier than planned as there wasn't the room to swim. Very well located and we were allowed to stay on an extra hour passed checkout time with no fee. I would recommend putting a mini fridge in the room as we were unable to keep water cold or milk for tea.

We visit this hotel the same time each year. Great location with shopping centre close by and plenty of pubs to choose from. We take our bikes as there is good cycling close by as well. Train station just a few minutes walk, with Shrewsbury 20 mins away by train. Lovely hotel with nice rooms and decent facilities.

Room cramped, no chance to upgrade. No phone, shower temperature couldn't be altered. Had to specifically request daily room service! Dinner menu very limited, never changed, drinks extremely expensive. All in all, more like a 3 star establishment.

I stay here regularly and normally have no problems. This time- I was quite shocked to have heard a conversation between staff that was not pleasant.

Location was great, near to the centre

Location was great but breakfast was basic, no variety to choose from. Also only few toiletries in the room and has to always go to reception and ask for more. No telephone in room. The only great thing I found was that, Reception and front of house staff were great and professional.

I stayed in a first floor room where the window went out onto a flat roof. As a single woman staying in the hotel this meant I did not feel safe leaving the window open but unfortunately the air conditioning in the room was not working. This was a very warm night and made for an uncomfortable night. Apart from that the room was clean and satisfactory in terms of its provisions and facilities. Breakfast was good with a wide selection and excellent service.

Check in was quick and covid friendly, receptionist was great. When we arrived to our room the chair in the room had a dirty stain- very noticeable it was off putting. The bed was comfortable however we had noisy couple to the room next to us that kept arguing which kept us up! They also kept banging the door. It meant we didn't have a good nights sleep which was disappointing.

Room was great but staff food and breakfast were very poor. Worst burger I have ever been served and many of the staff shouldn’t be working in hospitality. Reception desk never manned and staff hiding in back room eating. Old lady at breakfast has attitude.

We were disappointed in many respects - food, drinks, room size, under staffed, no hot water, no accessible shower (shown on website photograph in accessible room, etc. However the receptionist and colleague were very helpful and tried their best in a challenging situation.

Unable to book the room without breakfast included which was £50 for a meal I don't eat. The worst internet connection I've experienced in a hotel unable to stream anything.

When choosing a rate please ensure your filters do not have ticked boxes to ensure it finds all relevant rates. If you are not able to book a Room Only rate for any reason we can remove breakfast from the rate as long as you have not booked via a third party website such as booking.com/Expedia and have booked direct via our brand website. Radiator was not very hot. Room was very cold, so had to use the hairdryer to help warm it up.

Clean, friendly hotel

We stayed two nights for a Sci Fi event. Our room was very comfortable and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The woman in charge of the restaurant/bar worked what appeared to be 18 hours a day trying to make things run smoothly. Most of the servers however were clueless and inexperienced.
