I had amazing experiences at the 21c Museum Hotels in Louisville and Nashville. Was shocked by how bad my room was in Durham. Very gritty old building with windows sealed shut. Would not accept room, but they still charged me. So bad, I still had to get second hotel room for that night in Durham. Cannot believe this hotel met Accor's band standards or that the manager would not just let us leave without paying when the room was clearly terrible and not at all what the pictures depict on their website. Save yourself!

Wanted to stay in Durham for business/personal travel. Perfect location, centrally located with tons of activities and restaurants within a 2-3 block radius. Rented a terrace suite. Suite was perfect size and clean. Staff was a 10+ in helpfulness and friendliness. Ate at the Counting House and it was excellent. Only negative was that the spa was closed. Overall fantastic appearance and I'll be back soon.

It was awesome! I came with my two kids for their spring break and we had the best time. The room was beautiful. I just wish next time we had a different view. This was our second time with the same view. I will make sure to request that next time. All of the staff was so kind, restaurant was amazing, we will be back soon!

Very nice room - not worth the 280 we overpaid as the reservation feature connected us to a third party hack system.

Thank you for having us recently. We were met graciously by the front desk and concierge “Rob”. Who was absolutely delightful and a key part of our experience. He went beyond expectations to bring us plates, utensils, microwave, even replaced a TV that was not functioning, and made very clear he derived satisfaction from taking care of guests needs, which was great to know we weren’t bothering him or hindering him from doing his nightly duties. The accommodations were what we have come to expect as long term guests of 21c; comfortable, caring, and being treated as top tier guests. Of course the facilities were clean and beautifully presented. The luxury terrace suite was immaculate and served amazing views. The attached museum was a treat for late night exploration. I truly hope things return to normal post-Covid and you are able to offer your particular brand of experience and luxury soon. Sincerely thank you for making such adjustments in these trying times, Rob was amazing in explaining the protocol, and newly implemented procedures to guests. Even tactfully reminding us of the mask mandate when we forgot, which we were grateful and reassured him we appreciate him doing his job, and how we caused no issue on your premisses. Again thank you to 21c and your staff for such amazing accommodations. I truly look forward to exploring your other locations.

Motel 6 with an Ambiance

The first room was extremely uncomfortable. In the middle of the night my wife and I were awaked by the sound of elevator shaft. It sounded like we were in a boiler room. The tv didn’t work, we called for batteries never received. No housekeeping due to COVID-19. Had to call for trash, no linen & towels. We changed rooms for the rest of our stay. The light was broken in the entryway. The mirror in the bathroom was chipped. It was a dry way hole in the window sill of the bathroom. The hallways were dirty. I could have saved $200 and stayed at the Marriott across the street. I will not return.

My wife and I have been married for 11 years, but since having kids, we haven't had a chance to spend time with just the two of us. We decided to book a room here and spend a weekend eating at downtown restaurants and having some R&R time. The location is great, because even though you are in the heart of downtown, the hotel is actually nestled in a slightly less trafficked area. It's also right around the corner from a lot of great food locations, and within walking distance of lots of downtown places. The hotel is really nice, and the view of downtown is awesome. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful.

We had a great corner room on the 9th floor. It was quiet & comfortable. We had to request a blanket as the sheets on the bed were no enough to keep us warm at night. We had a problem with one of the table side lamps...John worked on it numerous times but it still would cut on and off and dim without touching. The lighting is very low, another light in the room would be helpful.

The view was nice and room was quality, but the experience was not. There was no microwave and the fridge had no room for personal items. Also, there was barely any air condition in our room.

I had planned a romantic night at 21c, so specifically chose the 21C suite, their most expensive room, as it had an outdoor soaking tub. Well, the tub did not work, even after maintenance came up. They said it had been winterized and had not been prepared for spring / summer. If I had known that, then I would not have gotten this room, and would have instead opted for regular terrace room. While my wife and I had a great time, I was very disappointed. If the tub was not available, then it should not have been highlighted and marketed when reviewing room options.
