Great Stay... but...

21c was my favorite hotel and I used it every time I am in town because it is centrally located to everything. I also enjoy the restaurant and the art installments. On this trip, I stayed Wednesday night through Sunday morning. Unfortunately, during this trip, I had a death in the family and needed to extend my trip for a week so I could attend the memorial. I always book my trip in advance and was staying at 21C for $190 a night. When I explained the situation and requested an extension, the gentleman at the front desk told me my new rate would be $450 per night for the extra week. He said he was unable to make any changes to what was listed on the website and offered me no solution. When I asked why the high rate, he said he thought the Reds were in town but I shared with him that the Reds were playing in Philly until the weekend. Anyway, I ended up booking at the Kinsley a block away for $220 per night where they set me up with a corner king suite with huge windows on two walls. They too have a restaurant (not as good as Metropole) but the property is also a repurposed older building that I found quite pleasant and up to date. I am not writing this to be a jerk but rather to hope my experience will force some operation changes that allow the staff options should someone need to extend their stay. To just have a guy shrug and say sorry I can't help when rooms were obviously available doesn't leave me with a feeling that 21C appreciates my repeat business.

A Lot of Potential

The overall feel of the hotel was great. Staff were amazing, the art was very cool, location was centralized. The parking situation was not ideal, but we knew that coming in so no knock there. The lightbulb on the left side of the bed was non-functional which wasn't a big deal. The biggest negative was the A/C/in our room was not working correctly and the pillows were pretty terrible making for a rather rough night's sleep. Combined with the price, I feel I had to knock down the score a bit.

Staff is always nice. Bartenders were great! Room was little rough in that we had a sliver of window light, and every time the fan for the A/c kicked on the door would rattle so loudly we thought someone was trying to come in. Tried to order room service for breakfast but no one answered the phone.

The hotel was above and beyond what we expected beautiful and clean the displayed artwork through the building was beautiful. The location was amazing being right in the middle of all of the beautiful downtown businesses restaurants and entertainment. We had a wonderful night downtown and definitely will return to finish our experience there was just too much to explore there.
