I enjoyed my stay here. I've stayed at other Museum 21C hotels and I appreciated how this one was slightly off of the main activity areas of the city. In addition to being well appointed, comfortable, clean, and well staffed, it had a good restaurant and was in a well designed space.

It was out first stay at a 21c property, and we were pleasantly surprised at the concept of a museum hotel. The art was interesting and provocative, and the teal penguins completely charming. The hotel location was fantastic and rooms were great. But it was the staff that made the hotel a standout. From the valet staff, the front desk, the restaurant employees, to housekeeping, everyone was friendly and extremely service-oriented.

Our sheets and pillows had makeup all over them like they were not changed from the previous guest. Also, one of my wash clothes had this black melted stuff on it. Very uncomfortable stay when your worries about your safety due to rhe cleanliness.
Unique but in need of repair

We came to town for a show and were excited to stay at the 21c as we have often attended events, or walked through the galleries of these hotels in the region. The assumption was that this would be a unique and upscale experience, even for a single night getaway. The restaurant was great and the galleries are well worth the time to wander and view. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Now to the things that could be better… our room on the top floor was comfortable, but there were some signs of wear and tear on things, namely a missing shower door bar, and a phone charging clock that did not work by the bed. The wiring in the room was odd in a way that really should not have been. There was no way to turn off the entry light without turning off all of the lights, which had to be done on the switch by the door. There was no way to turn on the bedside lamp after this, and no way to charge cellphones overnight on the side tables using the provided usb charge ports or outlets without leaving the entry light on. The room had a fridge with snacks that were measured by weight, but upon removing one and placing it back in the fridge we were still charged for the item upon checkout erroneously. There was no place in this fridge for our own drinks or leftovers either, which made it’s use a bit perplexing. The view was nice, the espresso machine is a great thing to have in a room, the shower spacious and I can’t complain too much overall, but it is just strange given the reputation of the 21c that these simple experiences that so many hotels get right, were done so poorly. We also felt rushed by the cleaning staff, who knocked on our door asking when we were leaving before our checkout time despite the do not disturb notice on the door.
