Cool hotel, but not a great stay

Customer review rating 3.5/5

The hotel itself was super cool, like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The room was spacious and well designed. However I had 3 issues during my stay that made for a unpleasant experience. First was that in the middle of the night my entryway light kept turning itself on and off by itself while I was in bed. This kept me awake for hours. I talked to the front desk about this the next day and they sent an engineer up to check, who witnessed the problem but didn’t know why it was happening. He suspected it was due to the 3 mater switches in the room interfering with one another. Why are there 3 master switches in each room?? Second issue was the pillows completely flattening out and providing zero support when you lay on them, making for an uncomfortable sleep. Third issue was the paper thin walls, so thin that I could hear my neighbors talking (not even shouting, I could hear their whole conversation when they were talking at a normal volume) all night (and unfortunately they were night owls so they talked until about 2am, affording me very little sleep).

Interesting space, large loft design rooms attractive

The building, a renovated Ford Factory, is stunning. Art installation delightful. Food quality and availability in restaurant key to a good stay because surrounding neighborhood is still pretty desolate. Staff very uneven—ranging from surly to friendly but clueless.

Good Location, easy parking, disappointing room.

Bathroom is nice but rest of room leaves much to be desired. Ref. is too small to be useful. Lighting at desk is a joke. Hard to get ice since it comes from room service which does not answer phone. Had to call front desk for ice. Would not recommend hotel or stay in another 21c.

Great art and perfect room
