Two things mainly that I would blame on poorly trained front desk staff. We were unhappy with our upgraded Luxury King Suite and wanted a different room. When we were told that couldn't happen we were told that we would only be charged for the regular King Suite. When we got our bill the next morning the adjustment wasn't there. We were told there would be no breakfast on the Monday morning we were there, just coffee in the room. After we got up, got dressed and went out in the cold for coffee the next morning we learned upon our return that there actually was real coffee and a light breakfast for guests just off the lobby. Plus, two out of the four desk staff we saw were wearing their mask under their noses.

My Daughter was turned away and they charged me for the room!

I reserved a room for my adult daughter and friends on their return drive to college. The credit card used to reserve the room was presented by my daughter to the front desk and they refused to allow her to check in. Her friend’s father was made to come and reserve the room. To add insult to injury the hotel then charged me for the room after refusing to let my daughter check in. We have stayed here in the past and were pleased but this appalling lack of service is unacceptable.

Unique stay in the heart of Chicago

Loved this location in the heart of Chicago. The rooms are solid, clean and have nice views from the upper floors — but are not remarkable otherwise. The hotel was however an excellent value compared to others in the area. And the museum gallery is super impressive. You just can't beat a robust contemporary art collection in this setting. This is what sets 21c apart. Unfortunately the restaurant and hotel's only bar was closed all day Sunday and Monday, which was not mentioned when we checked in. This was disappointing as we had planned to have breakfast there at least one of the days of our 3-night stay. Feels like a hotel at this level should at least have a bar available to guests on site everyday.

we came to Chicago for a long weekend. We loved our stay at 21c. The hotel was in a great location , convenient to everything. The room was comfortable and quiet. The Exhibit in the lobby was FANTASTIC and I enjoyed looking at it every day. The desk staff were super friendly and helpful

Overall, the hotel is okay. I wasn’t very impressed with this location in comparison to the other location I have visited. The staff isn’t overly friendly and definitely not when you bring up a concern. Unfortunately I probably won’t stay here again.

The location of the hotel was within walking distance of great food, shopping, and museums, and the room was spacious and super comfortable. The price was also excellent for being right in the middle of downtown with free parking. I will definitely be staying here the next time I am in Chicago.

Front desk first experience was ok. People polite. When I called to ask to speak with Luis, the door man, they were helpless and didn’t allow me to speak with him. Luis was a great person, very charismatic and very helpful beyond his duties. But the front desk person that answer my call (maybe Hector) was helpless and made me regret staying at that hotel. Also hotel did not have any room service and nothing to provide my family! Terrible experience

Wish the front desk is more friendly

I did tons of research before choosing this hotel. I have stayed many 21c before staying at Chicago 21c. I called the front desk two nights before I arrived, I got the confirmation the pet fee was waived and I also found a confirmation from Chicago 21C’s website the pet fee was waived. When I checked in, the front desk staff rudely told me it was not( there was so many ways to say no, but they chose the rude and disrespectful tone!). I pulled my phone record and the 21c Chicago website, showed all the proof to the staff, they didn’t want to acknowledge the situation and continuously argued with me that I was wrong. They finally decided to waive the fee. Later on, the same staff saw me walking through the lobby, waived me down, and told me I was wrong AGAIN after waiving the fee. What kind of customer service is that? All the bad reviews about this hotel is related to their front desk, why Accor continues ignore those bad reviews? I completely understand this world is under-staffed, however, why would any customer should put up with such terrible service when they check in. I am still giving this place a four-star for their perfect location and convenient self-parking garage. Their room is clean! Accor and 21c, please hold your employees accountable or it will damage your brand.
