Poor gym and spa service

My criticism is predominantly towards pyramid gym facilities staff. I called the hotel earlier on day of arrival and specifically asked about the spa as that was the only reason I chose the hotel. I was told there’s no to book just turn up. There was no mention at last entry times etc… I checked in 19.45 and went directly with luggage to gym at just after 19.50 or so maybe 19.55. Only to be told last entry was 19.45. The pyramid website states last swim 20.00. Staff were rude and not interested at all when I said I just wanted a steam I’ll be 20 mins well before closing time. I was informed that I was not allowed to use the facilities. I went back at opening time 07.00 asked if I had booked I said no hotel said I didn’t need to. Apparently it is a must. I asked to use the steam he said he only just turned it on so it wouldn’t be hot for another 20 minutes or so. So I left as I had to have breakfast and leave for work. The hotel staff didn’t seem to control (I felt sorry for young lady at reception) reception staff said this happens a lot. So I never used the spa facilities. All in all a very disappointing experience and rude gym staff. The hotel was great no issues I would recommend that customers are clearly advised and there is some flexibilty shown as it a service some customers want to use.

Blamed for their error

First of all I booked the gym. I asked what time the last entry was and told it was 5pm. I happily took this. On arrival I was told that it closed at 5.30. That information would have been much more helpful at the time of booking. I ordered room service for dinner. After waiting nearly an hour I rang to see where it was. I was told that someone had been up twice and the lady in the room had sent them away. I told them they must have delivered to the wrong room as I had not answered the door. The lady told me she could prove it as she had cctv. This was never forthcoming. I asked her to describe who had answered the door and she said she didn't need to describe them as it was me! When pushed the description was not even close to how I look. She refused to deliver the food as they were too busy and I had missed opportunity. I spoke to the manager to make a complaint. He took the same stance as the lady in the restaurant, that two attempts to deliver had been made. No apology, no consideration that they might have made a mistake. I persuaded them to deliver and to make sure, I met them at the lift. I felt completely dismissed by the manager. He walked me down the corridor, reading out the room numbers as he went and seemed quite surprised when he got to my room. I asked where they had delivered to. He told me not to worry that I had my dinner now and I should just let it go. I asked was the delivery fee included and it was. At that point I was so cross I said I had expected ilthe cost to be waived, given the problems I had. He said no and that he would take the food away. At this point I didn't care. In the end I did have the meal and wasn't charged. To be clear I gave the correct room number, there was no error on my part. However, there was no apology. I was gaslighted and dismissed. There was no ownership or accountability in terms of the error that had been made. Things go wrong and had this been dealt with in a professional and couteous manner this review would have been very different. I was a regular visitor to this hotel, this will be my last stay. There are other options nearby.
