Inspiration665845 Business - TripAdvisor review

Have stayed in many fine hotels worldwide but felt very disappointed with the Movenpick in the Hague. The hotel seemed to be short of staff with sometimes queues lining up to reception and services being slow. My wife and I arrived on the 17th of June - 4 nights. On check in we were told an additional 50 euros had to be charged to our debit card to cover any extra expenses - this or the balance thereof we were assured would be refunded (as of today no refund received) . We asked for a quiet room not close to the lifts - our room 312 was just opposite the lifts. Room 312 is modern and spacious but the light blue sofa made out of material was heavily stained. My wife would not sit on it and we asked if this could be replaced. A replacement was not possible, the sofa would need to be taken for a deep clean but they offered to upgrade us to the 4th floor executive suite . Room 419 was exactly next to a lift - a bigger bathroom and a terrace but again with a heavily stained light blue sofa and with the walls having suffered the wear and tear of suitcases, etc. The room did not have a work desk (room 312 did) - we asked if a work desk and chair could be placed in the room and reception promised to look into it and revert ..we heard nothing more from them. Believe the hotel needs to pull up its socks so as to reflect the price they charge. The dirt/stains on the sofas is a disgrace and should be changed forthwith. In the meantime I await the refund of the 50 euros (have emailed them but no response todate).

Very good hotel close to city center but in a calm corner

1. Room: I stayed on the 4th floor with access to a balcony. These are particularly nice rooms. Well equipped (coffee machine etc.) and, for a change curtains that really darken the room, the possibility to open the window and a spacious shower. For this I would rate even 10. 2. The breakfast is very good, though not exceptional when it comes to the selection of food. For example fresh fruits are very limited (e.g. at this time of the year one could offer seasonal fruits and not only a small fruit salad). Service here was excellent. All over 8 3. Reception staff. Friendly and efficient, but not always follow-up (see below): 7 4. Sports room: this is the only issue where I see a lot of room for improvement. And I stayed already 3 times recently in this hotel partly over several days. Good that the room is 24h accessible and equipment is good, but: - no towels available - water bottle was always empty - huge TV screen never working - an awful music playing constantly which cannot be changed. Almost torture. When contacting the reception (in total three attempts), they did not show much interest in my request, I was told that they cannot do anything about TV and music. Water and towel requests remained unanswered. Rating 5

Another Great Stay In Den Haag

Stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of June which was my 5th stay at this hotel since it opened. Received a warm welcome on arrival and despite arriving early, I was assigned a room. There is a car park underneath the hotel which has a good rate compared to the other parking nearby. The hotel has a great location on a quiet street near the Royal Palace. Shops and restaurants are only a short walk away. The Mövenpick Den Haag is a well located hotel with great staff and comfortable rooms.

Not too much expectation and a big disappointment

As a person with a platinum status in the Accor chain, I have to admit that the hotel is one big disappointment. I have never had such a negative impression after visiting a hotel and contact with management level staff. only the receptionist, a gentleman of Lithuanian origin, whose name I do not remember, saves the situation. someone should think about the promotion of this man, and certainly the replacement of the deputy reception manager.
