We just arrived at the hotel, and were feeling hungry and tired of the buffets from the cruise ships. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant and had wonderful service provided by Saif Hamadeen and Muath Nawafleh. Not only do they provide great service, but they were super friendly, and. Muath brought my daughter something to color on as well as wrote all of our names in Arabic for us. They truly added to the wonderful experience at the restaurant and we definitely recommend this place. The roasted chicken leg dish was amazing and had delicious couscous as well as the stuffed chicken.

Nice hotel, great location, lousy guest experience

The issue is not the hotel but aspects of the way it is run. We stayed 3 nights and had a number of problems. Late one night I went to the loo but then could not get out the bathroom as the handle mechanism failed. Managed to wake my wife to alert her to my predicament. The hotel sent a maintenance guy right away (excellent). He had to dismantle the handle, break open the door and fit a new handle (clearly this is a recognised fault). Much hilarity at the time. However I did expect a note from the management and maybe some gesture to make up for this unexpected event. Nothing. During our stay I was confronted by two separate staff on two separate occasions. The issue was signing for food/drink when, over and above the automatic service charge, I was adding a tip. The staff argued with me that this was shared by all staff and that they personally would get very little…implying clearly that I should give them cash. I just cannot accept being confronted in this way. It is not appropriate. Certainly not in a pricey, international hotel. The fact that this happened on more than one occasion indicates to me that such behaviour is not of concern to the hotel management. I think that it should be. Finally, at no time has the hotel sought feedback on our stay.

Honestly 5 stars is a bit too much for this hotel, but overall it was a nice staying. The room was big and comfortable and clean and staff was always helpful and nice. Breakfast is quiet good, i wouldn't suggest the dinner instead. Only complain: the room and the common area of the hotel were really freezing, so cold that I didn't dare trying the pool. If I went back I would probably decide to stay closer to the town center as this is 5 km away and you need to take a taxi everytime

Third, regards with the temperature at your room, you may find the climate / temperature control at the wall behind the bed, where you can adjust the temperature up to your desire. Lastly, in line with the temperature at the hotel, we can't fully control of it as winter season is also coming but please rest assured that it will be discussed with its respective department. The day we arrived was our anniversary. We checked in late and Mr. Muath waited for us (although his shift had ended) and brought to our room a delicious cake and wine so we could celebrate. What a nice man and excellent customer service. We loved our stay at Movenpick Oetra!

A1ex7 Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review
We stayed (2 friends) for 4 wonderful nights with the plan to explore Petra. The hotel has the optimal position for this: no messing about with hotel transfers - just wander over the road! This saved us immeasurable time... But the hotel itself and its team really made it: Nothing was too much trouble, the food was really fresh and tasty choices and catered to my friends tricky diet admirably - well done on all the GF & healthy yummy options. The pool & steam room was of course fantastic after walking, climbing and riding miles around the site. And the advice and help from the movenpick team from front desk to room service to restaurant made us feel utterly spoilt. Highly recommended - book it!
