Wonderful resort for a work conference. The board working & friendly staff are amazing, special mention to Dean Wright. This team puts the term hospitable back into hospitality. Although on a work conference managed to enjoy the beautiful swimming pool and awesome location. Service at the local restaurants was also excellent.

Un-pleasant stay

Hello Team, Thank-you very much for your email requesting a review of our recent stay @ Peppers Salt Resort & Spa, Kingscliff - (Booking Number: 78…). Unfortunately, I don't feel this property is to be promoted as a luxury experience, as the property has so many areas that need attention, and overall is very tired, and the service provided is also not in accordance with a luxury stay, nor satisfactory guest experience. This was not just what we experienced, though also overhead many other guests during our stay, expressing the same. I've kindly made the property aware of our experience, and then noticed your below email, and therefore, am sharing the same information with you, as I feel you may receive similar feedback from others, who are purchasing packages for this property on Luxury Escapes. Please see below information that I have provided to them today: To whom it may concern, I trust this message finds you well. Peppers Salt & Resort and Spa is a great property, excellent location and recently, I had my first stay at your property last Friday (we stayed for 2 x nights). This property does have a lot of potential, and I feel that, even just some small improvements could go a long way. Unfortunately we did not have the best stay, some feedback that I’d like to share with you, as follows: Once we arrived, we encountered lengthy check-in queues. While the staff at the front desk were polite, I feel they could be a lot friendlier. Throughout our two-night stay, I noticed that the staff (not just at check-in), though throughout the resort in general, were not entirely friendly, nor did they appear to be happy working at the resort. We consistently experienced delays and noticed unenthusiastic service, which was unfortunate and disappointing, as it does put a damper on your weekend away. There also appeared to be a lack of staff around the resort, and long wait times were also experienced in Season Restaurant, and also at the pool side bar. Long wait times and un-friendly staff were unfortunately consistent throughout our stay. We overheard other guests commenting the same, also. Last Friday evening, as we returned from dinner, we witnessed an altercation involving hotel guests and a staff member at the front reception. This incident was loud and prolonged, other guests were noticing, and it did create an uncomfortable atmosphere, not only for us, but for other guests as well. It made us all feel very un-easy, and as the outburst and yelling continued to become louder, then there were hand gestures, it felt un-safe at one point. Earlier that same day, during our check-in, I witnessed two separate disagreements between guests and check-in staff, they weren't as serious as the altercation we witnessed on Friday night, however on that very same day (earlier in the day when checking in), it was odd to witness two other separate incidents taking place with staff. We stayed in a One Bedroom Spa Suite booked through Luxury Escapes, as it was a special occasion for my partner and I. This room type (one bedroom spa suite) was described by Luxury Escapes as: “Having all the charm of a seaside village combined with the luxury of one of Australia’s leading resort brands, enjoy a stay at Peppers Salt Resort & Spa Kingscliff”. Unfortunately this room type did not have a luxury feel about it. It was a lovely room, great location, and spacious, and had great facilities, though it did not have the luxury that was promised in the booking description. Instead, the room was quite tired, felt dated, and it was not very clean. Unfortunately it did not have a ‘luxury’ feel about it, nor what was promised in the booking description. When our room was serviced the next day, a big pile of sand was left right in the middle of our kitchen floor also, the room wasn't really serviced very well the following day, which compromised our sense of hygiene. A small thing (just for perhaps future improvement), is there was no internet for the TV, and therefore no streaming services available, which was disappointing, and wifi was hard to receive in our room, we had very limited reception in our room, which once again is not on par, with a luxury experience. On another note, we tried to utilize the resort pool area and for two consecutive days (regardless of time of day), we were not able to source any spare chairs or pool loungers to enjoy the pool. We did head over the beach, however the Life savers had put up a sign stating the conditions were not the best and that there were blue bottles in the water. Therefore, utilising the resort pool would have been ideal, (if we were able to source any spare pool loungers), however there was never any available. For the amount of guests staying at the resort, more pool loungers, or seating, does need to be provided. I feel some additional pool loungers, seating, and some additional shade especially, installed around the large resort pool is required, and maybe even a little background music to create some ambience around the pool area, would go a long way to improve this space. It’s a shame we were there for two days and did not even get to enter inside the pool gates, on both days of our stay. There were also queues at the pool-side bar on both days, staff did not appear to want to be there, and unfortunately drinks were very overpriced for what appeared to be half-serve portions, when receiving our drinks. With the price paid for a 2-night stay ($652.00), just for the room, no breakfast included, I feel this amount is on the high-side for what we received. We dined at Season Restaurant on the first night of our stay (the Friday night), and we had breakfast at Season Restaurant the following morning. Breakfast was great, and I feel fair for what we were charged. However, the dinner menu is overpriced and service for dinner in the restaurant was very much lacking. A two-course meal for dinner is $70.00per person, and whilst the food was lovely, and we enjoyed our meals, I feel an entree of 4 x prawns on a plate for $35.00 is very overpriced. I was very much looking forward to our special weekend away, however I found it difficult to justify the value for money and overall, there are a lot of improvements, I feel could be made to make any future stay not just for ourselves, though for all guests, a lot more enjoyable. Thank-you in advance for your time, please let me know if you'd like to discuss this further. I look forward to your reply. With Warm Regards, Michelle

We were disappointed we had to pay extra for breakfast despite paying substantial amount for the stay , the price we paid we expected breakfast to be included. We had a big hole in the gyprock out the front of our room in common area and seen a rat peeking it's head out . As a new member , we definitely were not treated as a valued guest / member . My reservation was listed as H. h. . Not Mathew H.

Excellent in every way!
