Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge

Very disappointing! Lodge and surrounds have seen better days. We didn’t get the accommodation we booked and no resolution from reception staff. Room was ok and clean but expensive. No telecomms or internet or even a phone so communicating w friends was a challenge. No TV for when it inevitably rains or snows. Restaurant was so expensive fir what we got and service not great. Breakfast forget about. But location was good and the short walks from tge lodge were excellent. Lots of wildlife on site. Wombats we’re just lovely.

Wow! Wow! One of the best meals I’ve ever had! The dining experience in sensational from the moment you walk in. A very classy establishment.What a fantastic venue and experience to top off a magical day in and around cradle mountain. Highly recommend!

Overall location is amazing, we booked a suite (what a joke) all I can say is I’ve stayed in better backpackers in Cambodia, for the price it’s laughable. $1200 for two nights and I am absolutely appalled. We had a spa cabin, a large corner spa and one match box size packet of bath salts. When we enquired about getting some additional salts we were told at reception to go and buy some from the gift shop, for the price we should have been provide with a bucket of bath salts. The room was so outdated, the spa is separating from the tiling, the varnish is peeling off the mirror surrounds and the vanity. The shower has been renovated but not the rest. The carpet had a big buckle in it, I tripped on it several times. The room was like a refrigerator when we arrived, open fire place was beautiful but for the price they could have at least started it for us. The customer service is appalling. Housekeeping also appalling, dishes not washed on service and nothing for us to wash them up ourselves, minimal utensils in the kitchenette not even a dish sponge. I thought the food at the tavern was as nice until I woke up violently ill after eating the calamari. Notified reception to be told “are you allergic to seafood” I wouldn’t be sick if I was allergic I’d be in anaphylactics shock. Reception told us someone would give me a call, 48hrs later no phone call. What a joke! Cocktails are well priced and the atmosphere in the lodge is nice, but I can’t move past the appalling accommodation. The road to our cabin was full of large potholes and really unsafe. If you’re planning a trip to the mountain I suggest staying in any other hotel but Peppers and if you do stay at Peppers ask an enormous amount of questions regarding you cabin. Cabin 76 is an absolute dump and a complete waste of money!

The hotel is located at the fringe of Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair National Park entrance. The 2 short trails (Enchanted Trails and King Billy Trails) are located within. Wildlife can be spotted whilst on the trails or outside the cabin especially during dusk when there are less human traffic. The breakfast is ok only, I would expect a much better variety as their Cabin price point is much higher than its peers in the same location. The cabin itself is nicely refurbished and we particularly like the fireplace. You can generally park your vehicle outside your cabin as long as you are not blocking your neighbours. The staff are well trained and are very service oriented. Overall, it is a nice experience to stay at Peppers Cradle Mountain.

As I emailed back on April 7th and my email has gone unanswered I thought I would posted my email here for others to read. To the Manager Can we start by saying we have wanted to stay here as long as we can remember, we are Tasmanian but now live on the mainland. It was too be our last night in Tasmania before we headed back to the mainland We decided to spoil ourselves and pay $665.00 for a spa room. We were booking in on the 27th March after going on the train in Queenstown, unfortunately the train broke down for 5 hrs and we didn't arrive until late I had called when we finally got off the train to let your staff know that we were still coming but they couldn't care less Anyway we finally arrived really looking forward to a nice romantic spa and then we go into the bathroom and its just a tiny bath tub with a couple of jets (not what was on the website at all) I was unable to use this tub as I have very bad knees that I can't bend Also I had asked for a late checkout so we could make the most of our stay, they gave us another hr and we were happy with that but then at check out we realised we had been charged $8 for that hr, never ever have we stayed at a hotel and have been charged for late checkout So tell me what did we get for our $673.41, yes the room was clean and yes the breakfast was nice but I can not tell you how disappointed and let down we are feeling
