everyone was very pleasant and service was good. I was not happy with my dinner of breakfast. dinner was a very basic pasta meal and the breakfast had been sitting in the warmers way too long. It was only 7pm.

Bakini was lovely to have a drink at when we arrived, however quite a large tour group had just been through for breakfast the next morning and decimated the buffet.

My wife had an appointment with a specialist at the Alfred hospital and we booked into the Mantra. The reception staff were excellent and all the dealings we had at the hotel exceeded our expectations. We certainly will be back. Also, the Italian Restaurant is one of the best meals we have had in Melbourne.

Staff are great, rooms are excellent but to have no housekeeping service over 4 days seems illogical, and quite frankly, dumb. How do you expect guests to be able to dry towels overnight? Besides which we had to take our rubbish down the road and find a rubbish bin. When we checked in the tea/coffee/sugar, etc had not been replenished; there was no milk in the fridge, no tea towel in the kitchen area and the room had not been vacuumed. The rooms themselves are excellent in terms of size, comfort and amenities but the whole stay was ruined by the no housekeeping rule. We managed to get clean towels each day by badgering the reception staff and they provided us with tea/coffee, etc. My wife reminded me that we had stayed for 8 days a year or so ago and had the same issue. When we checked in that time we were told that the price of the room (which we had booked directly with the hotel, thereby saving you commission to one of the agents) did not include any housekeeping. We hit the roof when we were told that there would be no changes of towels, sheets, etc. No rubbish removal, no replenishment of coffee, tea, etc. Eventuallý we were given new towels every 2 days, rubbish would be removed daily and we could get coffee, tea, etc from reception. Another matter on this latest stay; the people in the adjacent room popped their heads in to say hello. The only problem was that they "popped in" via the connecting door which had not been locked. This was disgraceful. That is enough to let you know why we will NEVER stay in any of your hotels again. I will return my Mantra card in the coming days. I have been to about 80 countries staying in hundreds of hotels and not once have I struck a "no housekeeping" rule.

We stayed 2 nights on this occasion as opposed to our typical one night stay and on our first night our bed was completely uncomfortable. I could see the unevenness of the mattresses as they both had an awkward lean. I noticed we were given a disabled access room and was appalled at the quality of the bed provided. I stay here when I see my back specialist and woke with a sore back. I did let reception know if they could change our room and there body language made me feel like I was a hassle. They did put us in another room but I found it annoying that we had paid for 2 nights stay but couldn’t access our new room until after 2pm.

Very large one bedroom apartment, great for longer stats. Every amenity you could think of. Pity there isn’t a grocery or corner store close by to stock the fridge, as there’s be no need to eat out. Comfortable bed. Shower head could do with replacing, but the water pressure and temperature was fine. Nice toiletries.

I arrived at the Mantra St Kilda Road early hours of the morning after flying from Perth. I was stressed due to my son being in the Alfred Hospital after an accident. I was greeted in a friendly manner and also given a breakfast voucher for the following morning. The reception staff in person and over the phone treated me with respect and were very understanding due to the circumstances. They always asked about my son and how I was going. I needed to extended my stay and they were so accommodating and helpful. My room was always clean to come back to and had everything I needed.
