I just traveled to Melbourne for a medical procedure to do with my back I usually stay at the Sofitel this time I chose what they call the penthouse at mantra on the park because I’m a single dad and had to bring somebody to look after my kids because I was having treatment the place stunk there were stains all over the lounge the lounge stunk like a Garbage bin we put the heater on 20 it was a good temperature but up stairs you could not sleep it was too hot so I found myself on your stinking lounge and for this I pay nearly $1100 you have dropped the ball accor

No sleep

There was obviously an all night party in room next door. I heard management come to the room next door at 11pm and 2.30am to ask guests to quieten down, however 10mins after the party was back to full volume. Music and TV were on very loud and guests were louder. The wall between my bedroom and next room didn’t block out much of the noise at all. I couldn’t fall asleep for more than a few minutes at a time. The guests still had music going and loud talking, partying at 7.00am. When I asked on check out, I was told there were approximately 20 guests and yes management had visited the room twice during the night. Not being able to sleep the entire night was a very unpleasant experience as well as having to listen to everything that was going on next door. There was hardly any kitchenware in my room. Ie. Only one drinking glass. There was no information folder or even one sheet of paper to communicate hotel facilities, policies, services in my room either. I looked everywhere for it. To find some positives, the size of the room was good and view over gardens nice. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel and certainly won’t be back.

clean, well presented room, with lovely views during the day of the park & old exhibition buildings , then at night all the area lit up. Much better than other Accommodation where you look at other buildings. We will definitely come back when we can explore what the area has to offer.

Perfect location, walking distance into city, China town and Melbourne Museum. Also beautiful to walk through Treasury Gardens. Aaron on reception was so helpful too.

Obviously dirty

On arrival to room 1103 we noticed that the table and bench tops had visible finger and grime marks. There were dirty spoons in the utensil draw. We washed all utensils and crockery before eating. There were visible built up grime and food In the fridge handles. We returned to reception to obtain cleaning solution and rags to clean all table top surfaces and touch points as we were not confident that this had been done. That evening whilst trying to replug the lamp in the main BR we discovered dust and an old shampoo bottle under the bed. In the morning with sun streaming in the slinding window door obvious finger and grime marks all over the window. I cleaned the kitchen sink tap that had built up grime in the pivot point. Obvious dust build up on the bathroom window ledge. Bedside table in the second bedroom had an obvious cup ring mark easily cleaned away So overall, staying at Mantra on the Park although enjoyable for our family group. We were concerned about the vulnerability of our daughter who is immunocompromised. She is pregnant and we were in Melbourne to attend an obstetrics appointment. We have never had a problem with Mantra facilities in the past so this was a big disappointment and we will not be staying at your facility again. Emma at reception did give us a discounted rate. However, she did not come to inspect the room when we asked for and received cleaning materials. It was only when she delivered a missing TV remote to the room and we explained again the lack of cleanliness of he room and showed her the dirt on the cleaning clothes. She mentioned something about different cleaners. Why was this room not inspected by quality before being let? This is the time to get your cleaning up to a very high standard or you will loose more customers.

I have to say I was somewhat disappointed in our stay. I had booked the penthouse suite. When we got to the floor the hallway had not been vacuumed and there were also dirty linen bags. The dirty linen bags were removed by about 5:30 pm, however the hall was never vacuumed. The room had not be prepared as one would expect. There were no spare toilet rolls in both bathrooms and the coffee pods had not been replenished. I appreciate you may have less staff on during these quieter times but there should be standard checks that everything is in order. Other than this the apartment was quite good and the staff were very accommodating.

needs urgent maintenance

great location, friendly staff but the hotel was seriously let down by lack of maintenance. ensuite bathroom shower wouldn't stay on, bath took nearly half an hour to fill caused by weak hot water pressure. 2nd bathroom basin took hours to drain. hardly any teabags in kitchen area (although went downstairs for more). sugar holder not clean. there were other issues but these are the main ones.

Recently we made a booking for 3 nights. From the lady who took my booking, to the staff member who called the day prior to arrival, I can not praise the staff enough. Everyone was delightful, helpful and accommodating. When we chose to stay on an extra night, it was not at all a problem and we were offered a surprisingly low rate. The apartment was clean, well equipped and a lovely place to put up our feet each night. We will not hesitate to book Mantra on the Park next time we head to Melbourne.
